Job description

Summary/Objective
The Material Handler position is responsible for basic entry level duties and responsibilities in the Scale Shop, regarding organization and tracking of raw materials which includes forklift and overhead crane operation, as well as general assembly.
Essential Functions
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Loading, unloading, of steel and other materials from flatbed trucks/trailers, and movement of material within the facility, yard, or work site.
  • Opening of containers utilizing steel cutters, crowbars, claw hammers, etc.
  • Load/unload parts onto pallets, trays, racks, and shelves or secure into vehicles.
  • Forklift operation or willing and able to be trained to safely operate a forklift
  • Must identify, store, stack, organize and stage product, and assist with inventory counts.
  • Sweeping, cleaning, removal of trash, and scrap, as well as various janitorial duties.
  • Use of hand-operated hoist/crane to assist in movement of material.
  • Preventative maintenance as required, and other tasks as assigned.
  • At times job can be very labor intensive.

Required Education and Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Education and Experience
