Compensation: $135,000 – $150,000 + bonus
Travel: Minimal

Overview

A growing industrial technology organization is seeking a senior-level engineer to lead the design and development of embedded hardware platforms used in demanding environments. This role focuses on digital circuit design, PCB development, and system-level integration supporting next-generation control systems.

This is a hands-on engineering role with strong visibility across engineering and manufacturing teams.

Key Responsibilities

Hardware Design & Development

  • Design and develop digital circuit architectures and PCB layouts for embedded systems
  • Create and maintain schematics, board layouts, and design documentation
  • Select components and ensure alignment with performance, cost, and manufacturability

Embedded Systems Integration

  • Develop and support microcontroller-based systems and digital interfaces (SPI, I²C, UART)
  • Collaborate with firmware teams on system integration, timing, and functionality
  • Support board bring-up, debugging, and validation

Testing & Validation

  • Execute functional, environmental, and compliance testing
  • Troubleshoot hardware issues and implement corrective actions
  • Ensure designs meet reliability and performance standards

Manufacturing & Production Support

  • Partner with manufacturing teams to resolve build and quality issues
  • Support product release, first article validation, and ongoing improvements
  • Drive design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for test (DFT)

Documentation & Continuous Improvement

  • Develop detailed engineering documentation (BOMs, specs, test plans)
  • Maintain revision control and engineering change processes
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across design and production

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Computer Engineering
  • 10+ years of experience in digital hardware design
  • Strong experience with PCB design and schematic development tools (e.g., Altium)
  • Experience with embedded systems and digital communication protocols

Preferred:

  • Experience with FPGA/CPLD or HDL (VHDL/Verilog)
  • Familiarity with analog and power electronics
  • Knowledge of industry standards (IPC, UL, CSA)
  • Experience designing for harsh or industrial environments

What Sets This Role Apart
  • High-impact engineering work on complex, real-world systems
  • Strong collaboration across engineering and operations
  • Opportunity to influence design standards and product direction
  • Stable, growth-oriented environment with strong technical leadership
