We have an opportunity at our corporate offices in Chicago for a Research Assistant Intern (Hybrid) on our Scientific Publication team. This is a hybrid position reporting into our Chicago, IL office, requiring 3 days a week in the office.
The Research Assistant to the Editor in Chiefof the JAMA and the JAMA Network is an internship for Medical School Studentsor Residents who are interested in learning about the editorial review process,publication of evidence and how it impacts clinical care, and the translationand promotion of evidence in formats to reach global audiences of all stages intheir clinical careers.
The Research Assistant supports the Editor-in-Chief of JAMA andthe JAMA Network by providing high-quality research, analysis, and editorialassistance. This role contributes to the research needs of the EIC in the evaluationof medical manuscripts, preparation and synthesis of editorial content forpodcasts, social media, events, and other EIC initiatives.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conduct literature searches and synthesize findings from medical and scientific publications
• Assist in reviewing and summarizing submitted manuscripts and peer reviewer comments
• Prepare briefing materials, background research, and evidence summaries
• Track trends in biomedical research, public health, and clinical practice
• Support development of editorials, commentaries, and special projects
• Maintain accurate records, databases, and reference materials
• Collaborate with editorial staff, authors, and reviewers as needed

May include other responsibilities as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:

1. Enrolled in or recent graduate of an accredited Medical School program
2. Strong research, analytical, and critical appraisal skills
3. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
4. Familiarity with medical literature databases and citation management tools
5. High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Attributes

1. Experience in academic publishing, clinical research, or medical writing
2. Interest in advancing evidence-based medicine and scientific communication
3. Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion

The American Medical Association is located at 330 N. Wabash Avenue, Chicago, IL 60611 and is convenient to all public transportation in Chicago.
This role is a non-exempt position and the hourly range for this position is $29.25-$40.00. This is the lowest to highest rate we believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee's pay within the salary range will be determined by a variety of factors including but not limited to business consideration, geographical location, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
