Job description

We are looking for a Senior Software Development Engineer for the Sponsored Products Supply team. Sponsored Products helps merchants, retail vendors, and brand owners grow incremental sales of their products on Amazon through native product advertising. The Sponsored Products Supply team works on complex engineering, optimization, econometric, and user-experience problems in order to deliver relevant product ads on Amazon search pages world-wide.
As a Senior Engineer on the team, you will own and drive the technical vision and strategy for major product and engineering initiatives that span multiple teams and organizations. You will architect and lead the development of large-scale, low-latency distributed systems, ML infrastructure, and data processing pipelines that serve as foundational platforms for teams across the Sponsored Products organization.
You will establish deep partnerships with science, product, and engineering teams across Ads and Retail, driving alignment on technical direction and influencing roadmaps beyond your immediate team. You will lead cross-functional initiatives that require coordinating deliverables across multiple teams, resolving ambiguity, and ensuring cohesive end-to-end solutions. You will mentor engineers within and outside your team, raising the technical bar through design reviews, operational excellence standards, and engineering best practices.
You will be responsible for defining system architectures that balance short-term delivery with long-term scalability, identifying opportunities to consolidate efforts across teams, and driving org-wide technical decisions. You will partner closely with our science team and adjacent advertising teams to develop models and systems that optimize shopper experience at scale, ensuring seamless integration across service boundaries.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
