About the opportunity
Join QIAGEN and play a key role in advancing Quality Control capabilities within a regulated diagnostics environment. As a Quality Control Development Scientist I, you will support the development, optimization, transfer, and validation of QC test methods while driving continuous improvement across laboratory operations. Working closely with Quality Control, Manufacturing, and R&D teams, you will provide technical expertise, lead troubleshooting investigations, analyze complex datasets, and contribute to ensuring the highest quality standards for QIAGEN products. This role offers the opportunity to independently manage scientific projects while mentoring colleagues and supporting the successful transfer of innovative technologies into routine Quality Control processes.
Your tasks include
  • Develop, optimize, and validate Quality Control test methods to support product quality, regulatory compliance, and laboratory efficiency.
  • Lead the transfer of products and test methods from acquisitions, R&D, or other QIAGEN sites into Quality Control operations.
  • Analyze, trend, interpret, and present data generated through routine QC testing, investigations, and validation activities.
  • Lead troubleshooting investigations related to manufacturing processes, Quality Control testing, and customer complaints through to effective resolution.
  • Author, review, and maintain technical documentation, including SOPs, validation protocols, reports, and technical assessments.
  • Train, mentor, and provide technical leadership to Scientific Associates, Scientists, and Quality Control team members on laboratory methods and best practices.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize activities effectively, and collaborate across functions to meet business objectives without compromising quality.
Your profile
  • Master's degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, or a related scientific discipline with 4+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Demonstrated technical expertise in molecular biology methods and Quality Control testing within a regulated environment; experience in the diagnostics industry preferred.
  • Proven knowledge of test method development, transfer, validation, statistical analysis, and data interpretation.
  • Experience working within GMP-regulated environments; familiarity with QSR, ISO, OSHA, IVD, and MDD regulations is advantageous.
  • Hands-on experience using advanced laboratory instrumentation such as HPLC, FTIR, ion exchange chromatography, or similar analytical technologies.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and statistical software such as Minitab, JMP, or equivalent tools.
  • Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
The estimated base salary range for this position is $80,000-$90,000. Compensation will be based on the candidate's experience, skills, geographic location, and other job-related factors. In addition to base salary, we offer a total compensation package that includes a bonus plan and generous benefits.
