Job description

The Voice of Texas Agriculture.
Company Name: Texas Farm Bureau Casualty Insurance Company | Department: Information Systems
This is a paid internship position. Internships will last a maximum of one year, and interns are allowed to work a maximum of 19 hours per week.
The Enterprise Architect Intern will work with senior technical experts and architects within the Information Systems (IS) Services organization to develop services and technology roadmaps that align with overall IS strategy.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITY
Work alongside the Enterprise Architect to:
  • Develop Enterprise Architecture Artifacts.
  • Define processes.
  • Analyze information systems interfaces.
  • Perform cost/benefit analysis.
  • Solve information systems-related business problems.
  • Execute specifications as detailed by other team members.
  • Build technical competencies through daily work and training.
  • Grow project management skills by learning the software development life cycle and agile methodologies.
  • Learn how existing systems operate and interact; build domain knowledge.
  • Follow established practices for project tracking and code quality.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Technical Responsibilities (Candidate Dependent):
  • Data analysis
  • Java language
  • C# language
  • SQL language (TSQL, Db2 SQL)
  • JavaScript language
  • JavaScript framework (React, Angular, etc.)
  • Object-oriented fundamentals
  • Operations systems
  • Web server basics
  • Networking fundamentals

Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
At least one of the following:
  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree in an information systems-related field.
  • Associate degree from an accredited school, preferred in a computer or technical related field.

Preferred Skills/Experience:
  • GPA higher than 3.0
  • Participation in academic coding competitions or hackathons
  • Experience in an academic internship

Good problem-solving abilities.
Ability and willingness to learn and extend skills.
Good oral and written communication skills.
Good organizational skills.
Proficient in use of Microsoft Office software required for this job.
Travel as required.
Valid Texas Driver's license and driving record at the time of hire which would not place the employee on probation or disqualify the employee from Certified Fleet Operator status and the Company Driving and Safety Policy.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Repeated use of PC, telephone, and office machines.
Extended periods of sitting and concentration.
Occasional bending, twisting, crouching, pulling, pushing, and reaching in an office environment.
Occasional lifting and moving items weighing up to 30 lbs.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Occasional travel by auto or other public transportation.
Work to be conducted in office environment owned or leased by company.
