Job Description:

Airbus Commercial Aircraft is looking for Summer 2027 Interns to join our Quality Assurance department based in Mobile, AL. These positions are designed to provide students the opportunity to enhance their theoretical foundation through practical experience focused in several areas of the aviation manufacturing industry.

Over the course of our 10-12-week internship program, participants will have the opportunity to:

The team at the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing facilities help assemble the finest aircraft in the world, along two (soon to be three) production lines for the A220 and A320 Family aircraft. On the shop floor you'll be surrounded by individuals who are passionate about aviation and skilled in areas like electrical, structure and quality. Join our team and help build the next generation of aircraft.

Your Working Environment:

On 'Airbus Way' you will find the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility for commercial aircraft. Opened at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley in 2015, the facility produces A320 Family aircraft and added a second product line for the A220 in 2019. The facility, which strengthens the U.S. aerospace industry, is part of Airbus' strategy to enhance its global competitiveness by meeting the growing needs of its customers in the United States and beyond.

Your Challenges:
  • Assist Quality team by supporting problem solving, transformation, lean manufacturing, process/continuous improvement, innovation and six sigma projects.

  • Learn the root cause analysis and continuous improvement processes at Airbus and assist/participate in improvement efforts.

  • Update visual management schemes, metrics, and support analysis and tools to assist in operating manufacturing.

  • Document 5S scores, housekeeping audits and FOD levels. Assist in compliance topics.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Your Boarding Pass:
  • Willing to temporarily live in the Mobile, AL metro area during the internship.

  • High School diploma or equivalent experience and currently enrolled in Bachelor's Degree program for aerospace, engineering or manufacturing

  • Study in Industrial Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering majors highly preferred

  • Prior Airbus internship experience, highly preferred

  • Some office work environment preferred. Must be well organized and have good time management skills. Ability to use computers and associated software.

  • Requires use of computer and proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and G Suite. AutoCAD and VBA proficiency are preferred.

  • Ability to communicate in English both verbally and written

  • Proficiency in G-Suite and Microsoft applications, strong knowledge of technical terms.

  • Vision: able to see and read computer screen and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings. Required daily.

  • Carrying: able to carry documents, drawings, electronic equipment up to 10lbs. daily

  • Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools. Rarely required.

  • Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving. Required infrequently.

  • Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices or on production floor. Required daily.
