JOB SUMMARY
:

Intern will work closely with Universal Orlando Resort Team members, senior management, administrators, and executives to get a 360-degree view of culinary operations within Universal Orlando Resort. This unique role will report directly to an Executive Chef, which will give the student a high level of exposure in an intern capacity. The purpose is to allow students the ability to be hands-on and see the higher-level strategy behind operations that may take years in the field to gain exposure to. This role will be fast paced and full of networking and project management opportunities.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works alongside Universal Orlando Resort Team members to gain hands on experience in a diverse, high volume kitchen environment, closely managed by the Universal Chef Team.
  • Completes hands-on training in full service, quick service, and fast casual dining locations within Food & Beverage to gain a holistic view of large-scale theme park operations.
  • Unique opportunity to work in Universal Orlando Resorts state of the Art Production Kitchen and Bakery that supplies fundamental ingredients and prepared desserts and dishes to the operation teams.
  • Works closely with Research and Development on an end of program project to showcase knowledge, ability and creativity. Most likely a dish for one of our marquee events or a seasonal appetizer and entree for a selected venue.
  • Opportunity to present dish to VP of Culinary Operations and the Executive Chef Team.
  • Partners with other departments such as Human Resources, Finance, Food Equipment Techs, and many more to successfully complete projects.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training, and Team Member involvement activities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • In pursuit of an Associate, Bachelor or Graduate degree at an Accredited Institution with current class standing of Junior or above.
  • Minimum cumulative 2.8 GPA is required. 
  • A transcript is required upon application.
  • Recent graduates will not be eligible for this program.
  • Basic knife skills preferred.
  • Must be efficient in Microsoft Office Programs including, but not limited to: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, problem-solving abilities and organization.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Superior written & verbal communication skills.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment and adhere to deadlines.
  • Ability to work autonomously and/or in teams.
  • Consistent attendance.

PREFERRED SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:

  • Preferred majors include: Baking and Pastry, Hospitality Management Required

  • This internship will be an in-person experience, based in our Orlando offices.
  • Interns must be currently pursuing a degree at an accredited university, and must have a graduation date later than April 2027.
  • Universal Orlando does not provide housing. Interns are responsible for their own housing and transportation.
  • All of our internships are paid, and you may also qualify for housing financial assistance if applicable. The Recruiter will provide specific eligibility details.
