Overview
Make a meaningful impact by helping young adults with disabilities build the skills and confidence needed for successful employment.
ARC of the Treasure Coast is seeking a compassionate, motivated Employment Consultant (Job Coach) to support participants in our Project SEARCH Youth program. This position provides individualized job coaching and employment support to transition-age young adults with disabilities as they complete internships within a hospital setting and prepare for competitive employment.Working closely with hospital staff, educators, families, and vocational rehabilitation partners, you will help participants develop workplace skills, increase independence, and successfully transition into the workforce.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized job coaching and support to Project SEARCH participants during hospital-based internships.
  • Teach and reinforce essential workplace skills, including communication, professionalism, task completion, time management, and problem-solving.
  • Assist participants in learning job duties while promoting increasing independence and natural workplace supports.
  • Monitor participant progress, document performance, and communicate regularly with the Project SEARCH team.
  • Collaborate with instructors, hospital supervisors, families, and community partners to support participant success.
  • Conduct vocational assessments and identify participant strengths, interests, and support needs.
  • Develop individualized employment goals and strategies to prepare participants for competitive integrated employment.
  • Provide job development, placement assistance, and follow-along support as participants transition into community employment.
  • Advocate for participants and educate employers on accommodations and inclusive employment practices.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with program, funding, and agency requirements.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of four (4) years of professional or personal experience working with individuals with disabilities required.
  • Experience providing job coaching, supported employment, transition services, or vocational rehabilitation preferred.
  • Experience working with transition-age youth or young adults is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of disability rights, supported employment principles, and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with participants, families, educators, and business partners.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with an interdisciplinary team.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in education, human services, psychology, social work, rehabilitation, or a related field preferred.
Additional Requirements
  • Valid Florida driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Ability to pass a Level II background screening.
  • Ability to meet hospital credentialing and onboarding requirements, including any required health screenings or vaccinations.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and assist participants throughout the workday.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds as needed.
