Job description

Job Description Readiness Delivered. As part of our Skillbridge CMMC Fellowship, you will build your foundation in cybersecurity compliance with a direct focus on preparing for the role of a CMMC Assessor. Successful candidates will be trained to understand and evaluate environments against the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) framework, with a focus on Level 2 assessments. You'll learn how to interpret control requirements, review evidence, and participate in mock and real assessments. This role demands a high level of professionalism, detail orientation, independent research, and collaborative communication. Promote an inclusive, collaborative team environment with your fellow team members by engaging in joint analysis, independent learning, and knowledge sharing. Achieve foundational certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+) and work toward Certified CMMC Professional (CCP) certification during the program. Assist with pre-assessment readiness activities, evidence review, and documentation validation in preparation for CMMC Level 2 assessments. Adhere to project timelines, task requirements, and scope of work under the guidance of experienced Certified CMMC Assessors (CCAs). Contribute to formal assessment documentation including scoring matrices, objective evidence summaries, and POA&M validation support. Maintain regular communication with mentors and teammates; ask questions, offer support, and be proactive in sharing progress or blockers. Experience and Skills Working knowledge of information security principles, system administration, and IT operations. Demonstrated interest in regulatory compliance, risk assessments, and cybersecurity governance. Tier 3 adjudication with the DoD (equivalent to a Secret clearance or higher) Ability to clearly document technical findings, summarize evidence, and communicate compliance posture in a concise and professional manner. Previous experience in one or more of the following: system/network administration, cybersecurity operations, compliance auditing, vulnerability management, or technical writing. Familiarity with NIST SP 800-171, NIST SP 800-53, or ISO 27001 is highly beneficial.
