Job description

The Mechanical Engineer or Designerwill lead design and develop specifications of air distribution, hydronic piping and HVAC control systems and heating and cooling load calculations for various environments. They will work closely with architects, engineers and builders during the construction phase.

  • Manage multi-discipline design teams on selectsmall projects through construction.
  • Perform heating and Cooling load calculations.
  • HVAC system design to include Air distribution, Hydronic piping, System and Equipment selection and HVAC control systems.
  • Prepare specifications based on design
  • Review design drawings in relation to plans and specifications
  • Perform assessments of existing building HVAC and plumbing systems.
  • Perform on-site inspections during construction ensuring all systems meet local, state, and federal codes and standards.
  • Stay updated on HVAC technologies and techniques, conduct experiments and field tests to evaluate new systems and materials.
  • Meet with owners and understand project requirements.
  • Mentor less experienced Engineers and interns
  • All other duties as assigned.
  • Travel: 10%
  • Familiar with HVAC systems, Plumbing design and Microsoft Office skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, including multi-disciplined design teams
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Qualifications / Prior Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  • 5+ years’ experience in HVAC Systems, Field Surveys and Construction punch lists.
  • PE license is preferred but experience will be considered.
  • Experience in Plumbing design is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Revit is required.

  • Exposure to outside elements when on location site.
