Position Summary
The Coordinator, Internships & Apprenticeships works directly with employers, college faculty, and K-12 partners to create and support career-aligned internships, apprenticeships, and other work-based learning opportunities. This position will be a key member of St. Louis Community College's Workforce Learning Connection (WLC) team, which provides career exploration and work-based learning programming for 6th-12th grade students. Collaborates with multiple departments and units within the College to provide consistent and excellent student-focused service, leadership, and support. Assists in the delivery of College-wide initiatives directed to 6th-12th grade students, including information sessions, student orientations, and skills trainings. In collaboration with the WLC team, builds new work-based learning opportunities and works with students participating in WLC programs.
Primary Duties Performed
  • Develop and maintain strong partnerships with area employers, industry leaders, chambers of commerce, and community organizations to collaborate on WLC work-based learning programs.
  • Collaborate with employers to provide structured, high-quality work-based learning opportunities aligned with career pathway programs.
  • Lead mentor training sessions for employer partners, ensuring clear expectations, evaluation standards, and best practices.
  • Coordinate all aspects of internship and work-based learning development, including scope of work, learning objectives, site expectations, and program documentation.
  • Establish and monitor student eligibility requirements and manage the internship and work-based learning application process, including communication, documentation, and deadlines.
  • Prepare students for success through training and pre-placement support.
  • Monitor student progress through regular communication with students and employer mentors, ensuring required evaluations and feedback are completed.
  • Verify successful completion of work-based learning requirements and maintain accurate records of placements, agreements, and outcomes.
  • Partner with local school districts, high school administrators, and career counselors to promote WLC work-based learning programs and encourage students to participate.
  • Collaborate with deans, faculty, and internal teams (including WLC, Dual Credit/Dual Enrollment, K-12 Programs, and Employer Engagement) to align work-based learning with program competencies and academic outcomes.
  • Collect, analyze, and report data on student participation, employer engagement, and program outcomes; support related grant and workforce initiatives.
  • Ensure program quality and compliance with safety, liability, youth labor regulations, and institutional requirements; assess effectiveness and implement continuous improvement based on best practices and workforce trends.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree with three (3) years of full-time equivalent experience in a post-secondary education or secondary education setting or three (3) years of full-time equivalent experience in business, project management, workforce development, employer engagement, internship coordination, career services, or related field.
  • Existing business connection and successful related experience in both business and education is preferred.

Working Conditions
  • Office environment with frequent travel to businesses, industries, schools, and agencies.
  • Participation in events during non-traditional work hours.
  • Must have reliable transportation for travel up to 100 miles.
Physical Requirements:
