Candidates with backgrounds in fiber optics, telecommunications, structured cabling, OSP/ISP deployments, low-voltage construction, or data center infrastructure are strongly preferred. This role does not focus on routing, switching, firewalls, systems administration, or enterprise IT network operations.

As the on-site technical lead for connectivity infrastructure projects, you will work closely with construction teams, engineers, contractors, and project stakeholders to ensure fiber and cabling installations are delivered safely, on schedule, and in accordance with project specifications and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support project planning, execution, scheduling, reporting, and turnover activities.
  • Review engineering drawings, technical specifications, bills of material, and as-built documentation.
  • Oversee fiber installation, testing, certification, and troubleshooting activities, including OTDR and OLTS validation.
  • Support both Inside Plant (ISP) and Outside Plant (OSP) fiber infrastructure deployments.
  • Conduct field inspections, installation audits, and QA/QC reviews to ensure compliance with design standards and quality requirements.
  • Manage installation vendors and contractors, tracking performance, quality, and project milestones.
  • Resolve field issues, design conflicts, and installation deficiencies while coordinating with engineering and construction teams.
  • Promote safe work practices and ensure compliance with site safety and EHS requirements.
Required Qualifications
  • Experience supporting fiber optic, telecommunications, structured cabling, data center infrastructure, or construction-related projects.
  • Strong knowledge of fiber optic infrastructure and structured cabling systems.
  • Hands-on experience with fiber testing, troubleshooting, commissioning, and certification.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, engineering documentation, and technical specifications.
  • Experience with field inspections, installation audits, and QA/QC processes.
  • Understanding of OSP and ISP fiber deployments.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience coordinating contractors, vendors, and field personnel in fast-paced construction environments.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Data center construction, commissioning, or development experience.
  • Experience supporting hyperscale or colocation data center projects.
  • Experience leading fiber optic or structured cabling deployments.
  • OTDR and OLTS testing experience.
  • Knowledge of BICSI, TIA, and telecommunications infrastructure standards.
  • Experience with Primavera P6 or similar project scheduling tools.
Technical Skills

Fiber Optic Infrastructure, OTDR Testing, OLTS Testing, Fiber Troubleshooting, Structured Cabling Systems, OSP/ISP Fiber Deployments, Data Center Infrastructure, Telecommunications Construction, QA/QC, Installation Audits, Vendor Management, Construction Coordination, As-Built Documentation, Technical Drawing Review, and Project Coordination.

Ideal backgrounds include professionals from the telecommunications, fiber infrastructure, data center, structured cabling, and construction industries who enjoy hands-on field execution and delivering mission-critical connectivity infrastructure projects.
