Job description

Senior Electrical Engineer

Senior Electrical Engineer
Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead design and development of high-reliability mixed-signal electronic systems. The role focuses on PCB design for high-density boards, FPGA integration, embedded software, and verification from concept through production. You will collaborate with mechanical, systems, and manufacturing teams, drive architectural decisions, oversee prototyping and validation, ensure compliance with applicable standards (for example ISO 13485 and IEC 60601 when required), and mentor junior engineers.
Key Responsibilities

  • Lead schematic capture and PCB layout for high-density, mixed-signal PCBs using Altium and related toolchains.
  • Architect and implement FPGA solutions using HDL (VHDL/Verilog); integrate FPGA development into system-level designs and perform simulation and timing closure.
  • Develop, review, and maintain embedded software in C/C++ and write Python scripts for test automation, data analysis, and tooling.
  • Perform signal integrity and power integrity analysis using tools such as SPICE and HyperLynx; run thermal integrity analyses to validate designs under real-world conditions.
  • Design and validate mixed-signal interfaces (ADC/DAC, high-speed SERDES, clocking, power delivery) and manage analog/digital partitioning.
  • Plan and execute prototype bring-up, debug complex hardware and firmware interactions, and lead lab characterization and validation campaigns using LabView and instrumentation.
  • Define and enforce DFM/DFT practices, participate in supplier selection, create producible BOMs, and support manufacturing handoff.
  • Prepare design documentation, verification plans, test procedures, and regulatory artifacts as required for compliance with ISO 13485, IEC 60601, or other industry standards.
  • Mentor and coach junior engineers, lead design reviews, perform code and schematic reviews, and establish engineering best practices.
  • Provide field support for complex issues, root-cause analysis, and post-production problem resolution.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering or related field and 6+ years of professional experience in electronic product development.
  • Proven hands-on PCB design experience for high-density boards using Altium Designer.
  • Strong FPGA development background with HDL (VHDL and/or Verilog) and experience with FPGA toolflows and timing analysis.
  • Embedded software development experience in C/C++ and scripting with Python for tools, test, and automation.
  • Demonstrated experience in mixed-signal integration, including analog/digital interfaces, power supplies, and high-speed signaling.
  • Proficiency with signal integrity and power integrity analysis tools (SPICE, HyperLynx) and thermal integrity analysis methods.
  • Practical lab skills with test equipment and test frameworks; experience developing automated tests with LabView is a plus.
  • Experience working on regulated products and knowledge of ISO 13485 and IEC 60601 is highly desirable.
  • Strong documentation, communication, cross-functional collaboration, and leadership skills; experience mentoring engineers and running design reviews.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes, DFM/DFT considerations, supplier engagement, and production support.
