A Day in the Life

Our summer internships are full-time (40 hours/week), paid positions lasting 10-11 weeks. We offer competitive compensation, educational and social programming throughout the summer,as well ashousingassistanceand relocation support for eligible interns.

Engineering Intern Opportunities for Students

Interns may support one or more engineering areas based on business need, candidate background, and location availability. Examples of work in each area are listed below.

Research & Development Engineering

  • Support design, development, analysis, and testing of engineering solutions during research and product development phases.

  • Contribute to system integration, verification, validation, risk analysis, and data-driven evaluation efforts.

  • Support safety testing, regulatory compliance, and transfer of products from development into manufacturing.

Location and Work Model

Mostinternship positions are based at primary hubs in Minnesota, California, Colorado, Connecticut,and Massachusetts,withadditionalopportunities available in Arizona, Florida, Michigan, Tennessee, and Texas. Candidate location preferences are strongly considered during the interview and offer process; however, flexibility increases the number of potential opportunities available. All interns mustresidein the U.S. for the duration of the internship.

Interns are expected to work onsite a minimum of 4 days per week andparticipatefull time,40 hoursper week, as part of the intern cohort from June 1 through August 13 for semester system programs or June 14 through August 20 for quarter system programs.

Required Qualifications

  • Working toward a bachelor's ormaster's degree in BiomedicalEngineering,MechanicalEngineering,ElectricalEngineering, IndustrialEngineering,Materials Science & Engineering,Computer Engineering, or a related engineering discipline withan anticipatedgraduation date ofWinter 2027, Spring 2028, Winter 2028, or Spring 2029.

  • Applicants for Medtronic's Summer Internship Program must be currently authorized to work in the United States. Medtronic does not sponsor work authorization for internship positions. Individuals on temporary visa classifications, including E, F1 (CPT or OPT), H1, H2, L, B, J, or TN, as well as anyone whorequiresemployment sponsorship now or in the future, are not eligible for the Program.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience inengineering design, testing, manufacturing, quality, data analysis, or product developmentthroughinternships, academic projects, research, laboratory work, or relevant work experience.

  • Experience with engineering software, programming, CAD, data analysis, or laboratory equipment.

  • Experience creating technical documentation, laboratoryreports, project summaries, test reports, or engineering presentations.

  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale.

  • Flexibility in geographic location.

For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$26.50-$45.25The base salary range is used nationally in the United States, excluding Puerto Rico. The Medtronic Internship Program offers an hourly rate of pay that falls within the range of $26.50 to $45.25 per hour. The hourly rate offered will be determined by the position and is subject to variation based on the number of years of school completed.
