POSITION SUMMARY
Sony Corporation of America (SCA), is seeking an Intern, Security Architecture to join the Corporate Information Security Division (CISD) organization in Reston, VA for the 2026 summer internship program. This position will be a part of the team responsible for establishing a unified enterprise security architecture to secure Sony's information assets, services, and the products that depend on them, building trust with customers and stakeholders, and protecting the privacy of Sony's customers and employees.
The intern will have the opportunity to directly contribute and assist with projects associated with cloud-based applications, across all types including Infrastructure, Platform, and Software as a Service (IaaS/PaaS/SaaS), an enterprise-wide email security architecture, and global data architecture programs. This position is for those interested in pursuing a career in cyber security, security architecture, and security engineering on a global scale.
The CISD summer internship program is designed to provide skills, knowledge, and hands-on work experience in the information security and privacy industry, supporting the personal growth of our interns as well as Sony business results.
This 12-week summer internship runs from June through August and offers flexibility to work either hybrid or fully remote.
Responsibilities:
  • Assist with implementing Security Architecture methodologies in areas of network, cloud, endpoint and email.

  • Assist in the development and design of security best practices .

  • Assist with implementation of security principles across the organization in order to meet business goals along with customer and regulatory requirements .

  • Assist with documenting the current state and ideal state of Security Reference Architecture .

  • Support development and refinement of global information security technical standards, guidelines, and training .

  • Research and assess emerging technologies, industry standards, regulations and threats .

  • Honesty, trustworthiness, and ethical conduct are material requirements for the responsibilities outlined above.

Qualifications:
  • Current student pursuing a bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Preferred education in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Security or Information Assurance, or related field with strong academic performance

  • Knowledge of security protocols and frameworks including PKI, SAML, OAuth, TLS, IPSec, VPN preferred

  • Knowledge of cloud-based infrastructure and platforms including but not limited to: Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, and/or Microsoft Azure preferred

  • Knowledge of security toolsets including key management systems, firewalls, multi-factor authentication, intrusion detection systems

  • Broad knowledge across multiple domains including web applications, database technologies, server applications, storage applications, and/or hardware engineering preferred

  • Detail-oriented, with the ability to multitask and quickly apply new concepts to accomplish assignments

  • Excellent interpersonal and analytical skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Excel, Word and PPT

  • Previous experience through work or internship preferred

  • All candidates must be authorized to work in the USA

The target hourly rate for this internship is $24.00 per hour. The individual will be paid hourly and eligible for overtime.
