Job description

Supports actuarial pricing and ratemaking activities for an assigned line of business. Analyzes loss, premium, and expense experience using actuarial and statistical techniques to inform rate indications, pricing decisions, and portfolio monitoring. Assists in building and maintaining models and tools that help the business develop consistent, sound, and competitive pricing.
In this hybrid, you will be expected to work a minimum of 10 days per month from one of the following office locations: Madison, WI 53783; Boston, MA 02110

Position Compensation Range:

$62,000.00 - $103,000.00

Compensation may vary based on the job level and your geographic work location. Relocation support is offered for eligible candidates.

Primary Accountabilities

  • Conducts experience analyses (loss, premium, and expense) and summarizes findings to support pricing strategy and business decisions.
  • Supports competitive and market analysis; helps identify trends, impacts, and opportunities.
  • Assists with actuarial modeling to quantify risk and evaluate pricing alternatives (e.g., indications, relativities, scenario/sensitivity testing).
  • Provides technical support for rate filings with state insurance departments, including documentation and responses to regulatory questions.
  • Supports the rate review process by preparing analyses and materials for pricing meetings and stakeholder discussions.
  • Assists in the development, enhancement, and maintenance of pricing tools, templates, and reporting.
  • Assists with pricing analyses for new products and coverage enhancements

Specialized Knowledge & Skills Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support, or service.
  • Basic understanding of property & casualty insurance products, pricing/rates, and industry trends.
  • Basic understanding of underwriting guidelines and concepts.
  • Demonstrated experience performing statistical/actuarial analysis, forecasting, and modeling.
  • Proficiency in Excel; working knowledge of at least one programming or query language (e.g., SQL/SAS, Python, R, VBA).
  • Pursuing Associate or Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS/FCAS), with demonstrated exam progress.

Preferred candidates with prior actuarial experience.
