Guidehouse is seeking a Senior Consultant to join its Cyber Team - Cybersecurity Risk Assessment Consultant. The Senior Consultant will oversee the workstream for Cyber Risk Assessments and is a team lead role coordinating within the agency, conducting risk assessments for component Bureaus within the agency. The Senior Consultant will work closely with other team leaders for related workstreams, with IT stakeholders, and federal partners to ensure alignment with federal cybersecurity mandates and NIST guidance/principles related to cyber risk management and risk assessment.
What You Will Do:
  • Oversee, manage and lead the development and execution of cybersecurity risk assessments and verifying that risk assessment recommendations were implemented, thereby reducing agency cyber risk.
  • The Senior Consultant should have strong technical writing skills related to cyber risk assessments.
  • Advise on and incorporate federal cybersecurity risk frameworks into evaluations/assessments as applicable, such as NIST IR 8286, SP 800-171, SP 800-60, NIST 800-53, NIST SP 1800-39A, FIPS 140-3 and FIPS 199.
  • Develop, maintain and provide input on agency-wide cybersecurity policies, procedures, and documentation that relate to risk assessment programs. SOPs, playbooks, guidance and slick sheets are routine products that will be used for managing workstream activities and development of deliverables.
  • Prepare and update risk assessment plans, methodology documentation and standard operating procedures, project schedules to ensure efficient program operations. The Senior consultant should be familiar with a range of project management techniques and methodologies and not limited to a singular methodology or software for the sake of project management.
  • Provide expert guidance to system owners, analysts, and leadership on cybersecurity risk best practices related to cyber risk management. The Senior consultant will lead discussions with agency stakeholders to ensure Federal requirements are fulfilled, collegial working relationships are developed and technical assistance is provided in a standardized format that benefits the stakeholders involved, whether written or verbal.
  • Present complex risk assessment findings and recommendations to technical and executive audiences, including preparing briefing materials in weekly reports and to specific audiences. Advise on severity of assessment results and recommend courses of action to government stakeholders.
  • The Senior Consultant should remain flexible while ensuring compliance and adapt the guidance and technical assistance to ensure success given resource constraints, variability in knowledge of requirements and the strategic direction provide by government leadership.

What You Will Need:
  • An ACTIVE and CURRENT SECRET federal security clearance.
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university.
  • Minimum of FIVE (5) years of relevant cybersecurity experience, OR a Master's Degree AND Five (3) years of relevant experience.

  • Certified in one of the following OR another relevant field: Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified in Risk and Information Systems Controls (CRISC), Certified Authorization Professional (CAP) / Certified in Governance, Risk and Compliance (CGRC), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)

What Would Be Nice To Have:
  • Experience consulting at large federal agencies such as the Department of State, Department of Justice or Department of Homeland Security on cybersecurity audits and / or IT controls
  • Demonstrated experience in the areas of external client-facing management and/or consulting for large firms

The annual salary range for this position is $113,000.00-$188,000.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
