Job description

GPIis seekingCivil/Structural/Highway/Water Resources interns for the Columbia Branch with offices in Columbia, MD, Milford, DE, and New Castle, DE. Interns will be performing field investigations, analysis, 3D design, drafting, plan development, report writing, contractor submittal reviews, and construction-phase site visits.Interns will work with experienced project teams to complete interesting projects related to civil, bridge, highway, and water resourcesengineering.The preferred candidate should have excellent written and verbal communication skills and have some knowledge of MicroStation and/or AutoCAD.

Responsibilities:

  • Performing engineering analysis and design.
  • Preparing cohesive and organized engineering calculations.
  • Detailing and drafting using 3D CADD Software.
  • Assist with geometric layout and quantity development.
  • Developing task deliverables for review by a Senior Engineer.
  • Performing tasks according to the assigned schedule and budget.
  • Working independently under the guidance of a Senior Engineer.
  • Participate in field inspections of future project locations and active construction sites.
  • Assist with report writing.

Qualifications:

  • A student who is pursuing a degree in engineering and has an interest in civil/structural/highway engineering. Good communicator, energetic, and the ability to work in the office to obtain the full experience of working alongside our engineering staff.
