Job Summary

This opportunity is exclusive to U.S. military members currently serving on active duty and eligible to participate in the DoD SkillBridge Program. This is not a civilian or student internship.

Opportunities Available

Assistant Superintendent: The Assistant Superintendent supports daily field operations and works alongside the Superintendent to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project schedules on complex construction projects. Responsibilities include assisting with trade coordination, material tracking, site logistics, and safety compliance. This role requires strong organization, attention to detail, and the ability to support overall site operations as needed.

Junior Estimator: The Junior Estimator supports the estimating team in preparing accurate and competitive estimates for construction projects. Responsibilities include reviewing drawings and specifications, analyzing subcontractor bids, assisting with scope comparisons, and supporting bid submissions. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a deadline-driven environment.

Project Engineer: The Project Engineer supports the Project Manager with the administration of project cost and scheduling systems and supports estimating functions for changes and addenda. This role manages document control and shop drawing systems and helps ensure the smooth flow of information between the design team, consultants, and subcontractors. This role requires strong organization, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.

DoD SkillBridge Eligibility

  • Demonstrate interest in construction management or the construction industry
  • Have served at least 180 days on active duty
  • Be eligible to participate during the final six months of military service prior to separation or retirement
  • Be expected to receive an honorable discharge
  • Have completed the Transition Assistance Program (TAP/TGPS)
  • Have attended or participated in an ethics brief within the last 12 months
  • Received Unit Commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) written authorization and approval to participate in DoD SkillBridge Program prior to start of the internship

Computer Systemsย 

  • Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), Microsoft Project and Procore (preferred but not required)ย 

This is an unpaid internship through the Department of Defense (DoD) SkillBridge Program. The intern selected for this role will not receive compensation or benefits from JRM Construction Management and will not be an employee, agent, or contractor of JRM Construction Management but rather will remain an employee of the DoD and will receive compensation and benefits through the DoD.

SkillBridge graduates hired into Assistant Superintendent, Junior Estimator, or Project Engineer roles in New York City can expect a salary range of $65,000 to $90,000.

This is a pipeline requisition that will be used to capture qualified candidates that are eligible to participate in the DoD SkillBridge Program.
