Job description

Job Summary:
Missouri University of Science and Technology is a leading research university seeking a Research Associate in Computer Science. The role involves designing and optimizing high-performance parallel algorithms, implementing and evaluating prototypes, and contributing to scientific publications while collaborating with a multidisciplinary research team.
Responsibilities:
• Original GPU Computing Research: Design, develop, and optimize high-performance parallel algorithms for similarity search, high-dimensional spatial reasoning, and large-scale data joins
• Prototype Development & Evaluation: Implement, benchmark, and rigorously evaluate algorithmic prototypes on state-of-the-art hardware (including modern GPU clusters and emerging accelerator architectures)
• Scientific Writing & Publication: Lead and contribute to the preparation of high-quality manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals and flagship conferences
• Team Collaboration: Collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary research team, mentoring graduate students and contributing to collaborative grant-funded milestones
Qualifications:
Required:
• MS in Computer Science with a strong focus on Parallel and Distributed Computing
• Proven track record or deep technical understanding of GPU computing and parallel programming models
• Strong background in data structures and algorithm design, particularly involving spatial data, graph algorithms, or approximate similarity search
• Excellent proficiency in C/C++ and performance profiling tools
