The Vision Research Center (VRC) at UMKC is the Department of Ophthalmology's research arm, providing residents and fellows with comprehensive research opportunities, including basic research, translational research and clinical trials.

Job Description
The Department of Ophthalmology seeks outstanding candidates for full-time Research Assistant or Senior Research Assistant positions at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine. The selected candidates will be responsible for assisting with ocular cell biology, biochemistry and microscopy experiments as part of a newly NIH-funded research project. This involves preparing biological and other specimens for imaging and ocular cell biological and biochemical testing and to acquire and analyze related data. These positions will assist in maintaining the ocular cell biology, biochemistry and microscopy equipment, order routine supplies, prepare technical reports and archive data. These are research opportunities be part of a highly qualified research group to advance ocular research in further hopes of developing cures/treatment for vision degenerative conditions.
This is a 12-month full-time contract, benefit eligible, unranked academic position.
Qualifications
To qualify as a Research Assistant, minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's degree and 2 years of experience in cell biology methods and in microscopy techniques.
To qualify as a Senior Research Assistant, minimum qualifications include a Master's degree in a related medical or field of science and 2+ years of experience in cell biology methods and in microscopy techniques.
Experience in ocular cell biology is a preferred qualification.
Anticipated Hiring Range
The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $20 - $25/hourly.
Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
