Internship Computer Science Fresh Graduate information
What is the difference between Internship Computer Science Fresh Graduate vs Software Developer Intern?
| Aspect | Internship Computer Science Fresh Graduate | Software Developer Intern |
|---|---|---|
| Qualifications | Recent CS graduates or students, basic programming skills | Students or early-career individuals, some coding experience |
| Work Environment | Entry-level, training-focused, supervised projects | Hands-on coding, project development, team collaboration |
| Duration | Typically 3-6 months | Usually 3-6 months, sometimes shorter or longer |
| Employer Usage | Internship programs in tech companies, startups, universities | Tech companies, software firms, startups |
Both roles are internship positions aimed at gaining practical experience in computer science. The Internship Computer Science Fresh Graduate is often targeted at recent graduates seeking initial industry exposure, while a Software Developer Intern focuses more on coding and software development tasks. Both provide valuable industry insight and skill development opportunities.

Job description
Job Description Summary:
Wentworth Institute of Technology invites applications for an Assistant Professor position in Computer Science within the School of Computing and Data Science, beginning Fall 2026. The standard load for the position is 12 credit hours per semester for the fall and spring semesters. The successful candidate will help launch and sustain the new BS in Applied Artificial Intelligence while teaching a subset of our Computer Science curriculum.
This position has been designated as a Francis A. Sagan Professorship for the initial three-year term of the appointment. The Sagan Professorship carries a $3,000 annual salary supplement and a $5,000 annual research budget for each of the three years. The underlying R/A appointment continues beyond the three-year term without the additional funds.
"This professorship honors alumnus Frank Sagan, a 1933 graduate and lifelong educator, and is awarded to a faculty member whose contributions align with Wentworth's mission and demonstrate exceptional impact in civil, environmental, mechanical, or other engineering disciplines, including emerging fields."
About Wentworth and the School of Computing and Data Science:
Wentworth is a university of opportunity recognized for providing a high return on investment for its graduates. Our mission is to empower, inspire, and innovate through experiential learning and a student-centered approach to education.
The School of Computing and Data Science (SCDS) includes more than 30 full-time faculty who offer undergraduate majors in Applied Mathematics, Applied Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Science, and Information Technology, as well as graduate degrees in Computer Science, Data Science, and Cybersecurity.
The SCDS has teaching and research strengths in artificial intelligence, data science, cybersecurity, high-performance computing, mobile and web application development, stochastic processes, dynamical systems, financial mathematics, graph theory, algebra, and modeling. Faculty in SCDS maintain strong collaborative relationships with colleagues in sciences, humanities, and electrical and computer engineering, among other disciplines.
Our faculty represents a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. Collaboration is highly encouraged and supported, and our School has no departmental boundaries. Many of our faculty bring significant industrial, consulting, entrepreneurial, and project management experience, contributing to a dynamic and applied academic environment.
Responsibilities:
- Teaching: Faculty typically teach 3 courses (12 credit hours) each fall and spring semester. Faculty are encouraged to incorporate some measure of experiential/project-based content in their curricula.
- Scholarly Work: Faculty are expected to engage in active research within their fields of expertise.
- Service to the Institute: Examples include mentoring extracurricular student organizations, and committee work.
We value creative and passionate educators who can teach to a diverse student body; as such we seek to amplify the perspectives of the faculty body and encourage applications from members of groups underrepresented in STEM.
If you are interested in preparing our next generation of AI enabled Computer Scientists and if you have substantial experience with project-based learning and undergraduate Computer Science education innovation, then we'd love to hear from you.
Minimum Requirements:
- PhD. in Computer Science, or a closely related discipline.
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to teach undergraduate (and potentially graduate) Computer Science and Applied AI courses across modalities.
- Commitment to inclusive, experiential, and transformative teaching and learning.
- Working knowledge of AI concepts, practices and procedures and the ability to research and teach them in varied applications.
- Substantial professional experience in a directly related field.
Preferred Requirements:
- 3 years of related work experience.
- University teaching experience with evidence of effective, inclusive pedagogy.
- Industry experience and/or applied research that connects students to real-world practice (e.g., co-ops, internships, sponsored projects, community partnerships).
- Evidence of curriculum development, program building, and collaboration across disciplines.
- Expertise in one or more areas aligned with the Applied AI program and CS curriculum, such as: machine learning, deep learning, data-centric AI, MLOps and deployment, cloud computing, AI for gaming, AI systems, databases and data engineering for AI, AI in software engineering, cybersecurity for AI, responsible/ethical AI, human-computer and human-AI interaction, and VR/AR.
Position Details:
The position includes a comprehensive benefits package and a competitive salary. Benefits are described briefly HR: https://wit.edu/careers/work-wentworth
At this time, the university is unable to sponsor applicants for H-1B visas.
It is expected that the salary range for this position is between $89,042 and $106,467. The low end of the pay range in all faculty searches is at the minimum salary for the rank per the collective bargaining agreement between Wentworth Institute of Technology and the Wentworth Faculty Federation, Local 2403, AFT MA, AFL-CIO (the "Faculty Federation" or "Federation"). The specific pay for this position will be determined by the University based on consideration of all relevant factors when and if it decides to extend an offer of employment. The range does not include any salary stipend from a named-professorship. Note that these are two semester equivalent salaries.
This position comes with a 10% retirement contribution (no matching required) according to the current Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Wentworth Faculty Federation.
Wentworth uses a three-semester per year schedule. The faculty contracts are for two semesters (fall and spring) with optional summer teaching, which is paid on a prorated basis of the provided two-semester salary. This means the annual compensation could reach 1.5 times the provided two-semester salary, depending on the availability of summer classes.
Application Instructions:
Please submit the following materials to the Resume Attachment Section:
1. Curriculum vitae (including contact information for three references).
2. Cover letter (summarizing fit for the position and areas of teaching across CS and Applied AI).
3. Teaching statement (including approaches to inclusive, experiential pedagogy).
4. Research/Scholarship statement (highlighting applied, theoretical, pedagogical, or industry-engaged work; early-career scholars may outline a plan that leverages the Sagan Professorship support).
5. Two-page statement addressing our strategic pillars in your teaching and research: https://wit.edu/about/president/mission-vision-values.
All of application material can be submitted as one document under the Resume/CV section of the application.
Application review will begin January 6, 2026, and continue until the position is filled.
Applications received by December 15, 2025, will receive full consideration.
