Internship Computer Manufacturing information

What is the difference between Internship Computer Manufacturing vs Computer Hardware Technician?

AspectInternship Computer ManufacturingComputer Hardware Technician
CredentialsTypically pursuing or recent graduate in computer engineering, electronics, or related fieldsHigh school diploma or equivalent; certifications like CompTIA A+ often preferred
Work EnvironmentManufacturing plants, assembly lines, or labsClient sites, repair shops, or retail stores
Industry UsageEntry-level training within manufacturing companiesMaintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of hardware
Search IntentLearning about manufacturing processes or entry-level manufacturing rolesFinding hardware repair or troubleshooting jobs

Internship Computer Manufacturing focuses on training in the assembly and production of computers within manufacturing settings, often for students or recent graduates. In contrast, a Computer Hardware Technician specializes in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining computer hardware in various environments. While both roles involve hardware, internships are more educational and entry-level, whereas technicians perform hands-on repair work.

Job description

Varstaff is looking for a Mechanical Engineer III.

About the Job: In this role, you will focus on the development, manufacturing, and testing of advanced satellite systems and spacecraft capable of supporting complex missions from medium Earth orbit to the cislunar region. Supporting Blue National Security operations, you will translate engineering intent, drawings, and configurations into operational steps to produce fully functional, flight-ready hardware at scale. As a technical lead on the team, you will bridge the gap between design, build, and test—leading DFMA studies, deploying new manufacturing technology, and managing hardware build sequences from receiving to final integration.

What We’re Looking For Education & Experience

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, Electromechanical, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related STEM discipline.

  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing or production engineering capacity (including relevant internship experience).

  • Demonstrated experience defining manufacturing process flows and selecting production equipment for electromechanical hardware.

  • Proven track record leading Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) reviews.

  • Experience performing root-cause analysis (RCA) on non-conformances/escapes and deploying effective corrective actions.

Must-Have Skills

  • Mechanical & Drawing Fundamentals: Deep understanding of GD&T, tolerance analysis, precision fits, structural assembly, and the ability to interpret both mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.

  • Manufacturing & Process Development: Hands-on skill in authoring manufacturing work instructions (receiving, assembly, test, refurbishment), designing material handling/packaging, and refining production methods to optimize cost and schedule.

  • Quality & Configuration Control: Expertise conducting FMEAs, managing hardware configuration pedigree, maintaining process control through statistical analysis, and approving engineering drawings.

  • Tooling & Equipment Integration: Experience designing, procuring, installing, and integrating custom manufacturing equipment.

  • Supplier & Project Management: Strong written and verbal communication skills to interface with external suppliers, manage build schedules, and redline engineering changes.

  • Software Proficiency: Hands-on proficiency with CAD software, issue tracking platforms, and standard office tools.

Nice-to-Have Skills (Preferred)

  • Hands-on experience in an electric motor or rotating electrical machine manufacturing facility.

  • Experience developing spacecraft or Aerospace, Defense, and High Performance (ADHP) hardware (e.g., avionics, wire harnesses, propulsion, structures, or thermal systems).

  • Experience standing up brand-new production lines or manufacturing cells, including layout and equipment procurement.

  • Ability to obtain a DBIDS or NASA badge.
