Position Summary
The Manufacturing Production Supervisor is responsible for leading daily production operations to ensure safety, quality, efficiency, and on time delivery targets are met. This role oversees hourly production employees, manages workflow, and drives continuous improvement initiatives. The supervisor partners closely with maintenance, engineering, quality, and supply chain to maintain an efficient and safe manufacturing environment.

This role will be part of planned development for future operations leaders who will gain experience in various manufacturing roles in the plant.

What To Expect

Leadership & People Management

  • Supervise, coach, and develop production team members to meet performance expectations.
  • Conduct daily shift meetings, assign tasks, and ensure proper staffing.
  • Manage attendance, discipline, and performance evaluations in alignment with company policies.
  • Promote a positive, safe, and collaborative team culture.

Production Operations

  • Oversee daily production activities to achieve safety, quality, delivery, and cost goals.
  • Monitor KPIs such as throughput, scrap, downtime, labor efficiency, and OEE.
  • Ensure compliance with production schedules and adjust work assignments as needed.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including shift reports and production records.

Quality & Safety Assurance

  • Enforce adherence to quality standards, SOPs, cGMP, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support root-cause investigations into production, quality, or safety issues.
  • Conduct safety audits, promote safe work practices, and ensure OSHA compliance.
  • Drive corrective actions to eliminate hazards or inefficiencies.

Continuous Improvement

  • Apply Lean, Six Sigma, or 5S principles to optimize workflow and reduce waste.
  • Recommend process improvements and assist with implementation.
  • Support cross-functional projects to improve quality, cost, and throughput.

Equipment & Materials Management

  • Coordinate with maintenance to ensure equipment uptime and reliability.
  • Monitor inventory levels, material flow, and job changeovers.
  • Identify opportunities to improve equipment utilization and reduce setup time.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (BS) in Industrial, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, Industrial Technology, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, including internships
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, production metrics, and workflow optimization.
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, technical problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA and quality compliance standards/systems.
  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.


Preferred
Qualifications

  • Experience in high volume manufacturing or a similar production setting.
  • Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or CI certification.
  • Experience with 5S and continuous improvement practices
  • Experience in team building, leadership, and change management
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and develop employees
  • Experience with continuous flow manufacturing and labor-paced production
  • Experience in a "made-to-order" environment a plus.
  • Demonstrated integrity, flexibility, sound judgment, and critical thinking skills
  • Mechanical aptitude or familiarity with industrial equipment.
  • Experience with SPC, OEE tracking, or similar metrics platforms.

Work Environment

  • Manufacturing plant environment with exposure to machinery, noise, and variable temperatures.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25--40 lbs as needed.
  • May require occasional overtime or shift flexibility based on production demands.
