Job Description
The Manager, Commercial Real Estate Banking is primarily responsible for managing commercial loan portfolios comprised of Multi-family, Industrial, Retail, and Office assets within a geographical region; coordinates the lending activities of a team of commercial loan officers. Makes and services a variety of large and often complex loans to customers within defined market. Functions as a financial advisor regarding the full array of bank products and services that will meet client needs. Markets both credit and non-credit products.

How You'll Spend Your Time
  • You will call on major commercial accounts to develop new relationships with prospective clients while retaining existing business. You will promote the bank's services and introduce customers to other departments when a service can be rendered.
  • You will assist team members with complex account relationships, and guide less-experienced member of the team in matters relating to credit policy and complex financial arrangements; you will approve credit beyond the lending limits of team members and serve as a resource to team loan officers in the areas of marketing, new business development, and loan analysis and servicing.
  • You will negotiate loan proposals; analyze and evaluate credit requests which includes reviewing detailed analysis of current financial statements and collateral valuations, credit analysis, cash flow analysis, and delinquency reporting. This includes ensuring exceptions are documented, reviewing reports necessary to monitor asset and credit quality and compliance with policy/regulation, writing loan commitments, recommending appropriate credit grades, and making presentations to loan committee.
  • You will manage commercial loan portfolios comprised of small industry groupings or limited geographical regions and coordinate the lending activities of a team of commercial loan officers who make and service a variety of large and often complex loans to customers.
  • You will define annual department objectives and develop an operating plan, including budgets and manpower requirements.
  • You will direct and supervise personnel, determine work priorities, and interview and recommend candidates. You will also be responsible for all personnel duties including evaluating, training, and development of staff to ensure effective maintenance and development of existing account relationships and solicitation of new business.
  • You will participate in community and professional activities in order to enhance Banks image and expand personal network of business contacts for development of new business.

Education & Experience Requirements
This level of knowledge is normally acquired through a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Finance and 10+ years' commercial lending experience including Commercial Real Estate lending specialty.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of credit underwriting and complex accounting issues specific to Commercial Real Estate lending
  • Advanced knowledge of loan documentation (including legal aspects of loan transactions), policy and regulations specific to Commercial Real Estate lending.
  • Specialized advanced knowledge of commercial banking products and market factors in order to serve customers
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to prepare and deliver persuasive oral and written reports and presentations; ability to communicate with senior level management, regulators, and executive officers
  • Proven ability to build, lead, and develop high-performing teams
  • Demonstrated capacity to sell within the financial services industry with advanced negotiating skills
