Position Title: Instructional Interventionist - Chandler, AZ

Location: Chandler Preparatory Academy - Chandler, AZ


Compensation Type: Salary


Compensation Amount: Starting at $41,150.00


Position Summary: We are looking for life-long learners passionate about shaping students' hearts and minds. Join Great Hearts Academies, a growing network of 49 public, open-enrollment, tuition-free classical schools in Phoenix (AZ), Baton Rouge (LA), Dallas/Ft. Worth (TX), and San Antonio (TX).
Great Hearts currently provides over 30,000 K-12 students with access to a high quality, classical liberal arts education. We believe the highest goal of education is to become good, intellectually and morally.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Reads, knows, and supports the philosophy, policies,proceduresand other pertinent data of the school as published in theGreat Hearts Handbook.

  • Teaches the assigned classes using the assigned books and materials.

  • Provides reasonableassistanceto those students in need of individual help andassistsstudentstomake-up work after approved absences.

  • Communicates regularly and as needed with parents.

  • Initiates parent-teacher conferences and responds to parental inquiries by the end of the next school day.

  • Supports and enforces theschooldress and behavior codes and makes reasonable efforts to promote the orderly behavior of all students in the school, on the grounds, and at off-campus school activities.

  • Keepsaccuraterecords and makes reports as required by theHeadmaster.

  • Attends Faculty Meetings, Parent-Faculty meetings (semester conferences and special appointments), Open Houses, special school events (such as concerts, plays and special presentations) and end-of-semester evaluation meetings. Only the Headmaster can excuse a faculty member from these responsibilities.

  • Serves in some extra-curricular assignments as requested by theHeadmaster. Some but not all such assignments may be financially recompensed depending on the amount of time involved and at thediscretion of theHeadmaster.

  • Assists, when necessary, insubstituting forabsent teachers.

  • Accepts and faithfully executes monitoring and duty assignments.

  • Assistsin the upkeep of the buildings and grounds as requested by theHeadmaster.

  • Keeps the workplace and classrooms neat and orderly.Exercisescare in the use of school equipment.

  • Follows school policies and procedures, including the Crisis Management Plan,for ensuringthe safety and security of students on campus.

  • Participates in regular annual performance evaluations with theHeadmasterand accepts advice and recommendations for improvement of instruction.

  • Contributes to curriculum development with theHeadmasterand other faculty members.

  • Is an active member of the community oflearners andcontinues to pursue his or her own professional growth and development by taking graduate courses and/or attending seminars and workshops related to the profession.

  • Pursues excellence in teaching andcontinues to develop his or herown knowledge of the great ideas and works of Western Civilization.

  • Notifies the parent and/or theHeadmasterregardingstudents who are having significant academic or disciplinary problems.

  • Is actively involved in promoting to the greater community the mission and goals of theAcademy.

  • Maintain order of classroom and organization of daily lesson plans.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Communicate clearly and professionally with families, initiating conferences as needed and fostering strong home-school partnerships.

  • Participate fully in the life of the academy through faculty collaboration, school events, assigned duties, and a shared commitment to ongoing professional growth and excellence in teaching.


Required/Preferred Education:

  • Bachelor's or higher degree is required for a lead teaching role

  • Certification is not required for general education

  • All majors are welcome

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal history background check and fingerprint clearance in accordance with state requirements.

Travel required: May need to travel locally for training and professional development opportunities.
