Job description

WTTW (Chicago PBS) and WFMT (classical music radio station) are looking for a Corporate Controller to lead the accounting operations of the organization, ensuring accurate and timely financial information for the purposes of internal and external reporting and compliance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Supervise finance/accounting staff
• Propose accounting process improvements
• Recommend, implement, and maintain accounting policies and controls
• Work with accounting firm to prepare annual tax returns
• Prepare financial statements and regulatory information including divisional schedules and/or statements
• Plan and implement annual audits with independent external auditors
• Assist FP&A team with any accounting data requests
• File timely financial regulatory reports
• Manage accounting for endowment and other financial assets
• FCC Compliance Officer
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
• Mastery of accounting principles as it relates to financial reporting and GAAP
• Organized and detail oriented
• Expert user of Microsoft Excel and other office products
• Oracle NetSuite proficiency preferred but not required
• Solutions-oriented mindset
• Customer-service oriented
• Ability to work cross-functionally and across various levels of management
• Flexibility in work schedule; 3 days in office minimum
EXPERIENCE:
• 5 years or more of supervisory experience
• 7 years or more of accounting/finance experience with at least 5 years of experience in a controller capacity
• Media and/or content company experience preferred
• Non-profit experience required
EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in accounting. CPA preferred.
ESTIMATED SALARY RANGE: starting at $100,000 - $150,000/annual
