Job description

Company Description

Abbey, Weitzenberg, Warren & Emery is a preeminent Sonoma County law firm based in Santa Rosa, California, less than 50 miles north of San Francisco. Our plaintiffโ€™s practice is well known and respected for its success in handling litigation matters involving personal injury/wrongful death, medical malpractice, elder abuse, child sexual abuse, civil rights, and product defect.ย

We are seeking an attorney with 2-4 years (but open to other ranges of experience) of civil litigation experience to join our plaintiffsโ€™ practice. The ideal candidate would either have experience at an insurance defense firm or a plaintiffโ€™s firm.ย

We are looking for a highly motivated candidate with a strong work ethic, solid analytical and writing skills, and broad experience in all aspects of civil litigation. As a result of our firmโ€™s relatively small size, all of our associates are entrusted with dealing directly with clients, opposing counsel and the courts. The candidate should possess the following skills:

  • Great interpersonal skills โ€“ outgoing, confident, well-spoken and collegial
  • Strong case management skills and efficient time management
  • Ability to move matters along to conclusion expeditiously
  • Willingness to engage in business development activities

Experience should include progressively increasing responsibility in preparing pleadings, discovery, law and motion practice, demand letters, medical records review, pre-trial preparation and potential client intake.ย Ability to handle court appearances, depositions, and interact directly with clients and defense counsel.ย An overall strong understanding of the Code of Civil Procedures is essential.

You must have achieved a Juris Doctorate (J.D.) and have been admitted to the California State Bar. We offer a competitive compensation package commensurate with experience, with total annual compensation ranging from $125,000 to $165,000, which includes our generous bonus program. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package.

If you are interested in applying to join our Firm, please provide your resume, cover letter, transcript and a brief writing sample to Kathy Edmonds, Director of Finance & Administration at kedmonds@abbeylaw.com.ย ย
