Job description

The Northern Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery is in search of a new Medical Director of Cardiac Surgery at University Hospital.

Our organization, recognized as the largest healthcare provider in New Jersey, is on the lookout for a highly qualified and experienced individual to take on the role of Medical Director of Cardiac Surgery at University Hospital located in Newark. This position entails significant administrative and clinical leadership responsibilities, focusing on program quality, staff development, and fostering multidisciplinary collaboration to guarantee the provision of safe, evidence-based patient care.

The perfect candidate will hold board certification in Cardiothoracic Surgery, possess at least five years of clinical experience, and demonstrate a successful history in quality improvement or program leadership. In a clinical capacity, this surgeon will deliver comprehensive care across the entire range of adult cardiac surgery, which includes preoperative assessments, surgical management, and postoperative critical care, while employing advanced methodologies such as minimally invasive techniques, endovascular procedures, and mechanical circulatory support. On the administrative side, the Director will spearhead quality assurance initiatives, track clinical outcomes utilizing STS data, and act as a crucial link between surgery, cardiology, and hospital administration.

The expected salary range for this role is between $658,658 and $1,112,208. The final compensation offered will be influenced by various factors, including the candidate's educational qualifications, skills, and professional experience.
