Job description

Job Description Summary

Works independently under supervision. Responsible for strategic sourcing activities related to items, commodities, product families, or other groupings/classifications and executing buying strategies that maximize savings and cost optimizations that will improve the P&L, reduce risk, and in accordance with agreed upon material buying plans at the optimum cost/quality relationship. Analyzes market and industry conditions and develops sourcing and cost saving recommendations.
This is an onsite position in our Buford/Oakwood location.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Proficient in MS office suite (Excel, Access, Word, PP), Demonstrated ability to analyze large data sets using tools such as Tableau, PowerBI, etc.

Proficient in SAP ERP systems.

Solid written and verbal communication skills, work experience in a matrix environment desirable.

Formal problem-solving training highly desirable, i.e. Six Sigma.

Strong analytical skills, including cost-benefit, ROI, total landed cost, etc.

Strong time management and organizational skills. Focus oriented with attention to detail.

Excellent negotiating skills.

Ability to work independently without direct oversight, but also a solid team player.

Key Responsibilities

Key owner of strategic supplier relationships, including selection, qualification, onboarding, and performance monitoring and management.

Supports and participates in contract negotiations.

Supports new item and supplier requests, product launches, product promotions, or discontinuations.

Identifies and implements key cost saving initiatives related to sourcing.

Assesses global network constraint issues, makes recommendations to reduce or eliminate constraints to Supply Chain team and key stakeholders

Proactively analyzes and makes suggestions to the Supply Chain team with regards to replenishment strategies to optimize inventory investment.

Identifies and corrects Supply Chain constraints (disruptions in supply).

Evaluates suppliers based on capability, performance and delivery, Proactive reviews to prevent/minimize stock-outs. Works with suppliers to improve delivery dates and lead time.

Embraces innovation. Stays alert to opportunities to make processes better and contributes innovative ideas for improvement. May lead process improvement projects. Adapt quickly to change.

Maintains and lives a growth mindset, displays initiative to acquire new knowledge and experiences. Takes accountability for one's own continuing development.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience and Certifications

BS degree in Purchasing, Business, Supply Chain Management or related field, or equivalent experience required; MBA a plus.

3+ years working in a strategic sourcing capacity in a highly regulated industry, such as medical device, biopharmaceutical, etc., related internship.

APICS, ISM, CIPS, or other professional Purchasing/Procurement/Sourcing certification/designation desirable.

Formal negotiation training preferred.

Environmental Working Conditions

Typically works in an office environment with adequate lighting and ventilation and a normal range of temperature and noise level.

Work assignments are diversified, frequently requiring creative thinking, analysis, collaboration, and creativity.

Minimal physical effort is required. Work is mostly sedentary but does require walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting or carrying objects that typically weigh less than 10 lbs.
