Job description

Lecturer - Chemical Engineering
City: West Lafayette
Job Description:
Position Summary
The Davidson School of Chemical Engineering seeks a highly qualified and motivated lecturer to support undergraduate education in chemical engineering. This is a non-faculty rank, full-time, and academic-year (9-month) position with possibility for summer appointment. The successful candidate will primarily teach undergraduate courses in chemical engineering.
The Lecturer will contribute to instruction in courses focused on chemical engineering, while fostering student engagement and practical problem-solving skills.
Essential Reponsibilities
For each of the fall and spring semesters, the Lecturer is expected to teach three undergraduate lecture-based and/or laboratory courses related to chemical engineering, including topics such as mass and energy balances, thermodynamics, separations, reaction engineering, fluid mechanics, heat and mass transfer, unit operations, and related core chemical engineering areas. The Lecturer is also expected to maintain regular office hours, engage in student mentoring, and participate in School service activities related to education and curriculum development.
Required Qualifications
  • B.S. and Ph.D. in chemical engineering, or closely related fields.
  • Strong communication and instructional skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior university-level teaching experience in chemical engineering, or closely related fields.
  • Experience with using AI tools.
  • Strong commitment to engineering education.

The School of Chemical Engineering at Purdue University was officially founded on June 14, 1911, and was renamed the Davidson School of Chemical Engineering in 2016 in honor of Charles and Nancy Davidson. With 36 faculty and 600 undergraduates, the Davidson School of Chemical Engineering offers a comprehensive Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering with opportunities for co-ops, internships, and global studies, and vibrant programs at the MS and PhD level.
