Qualifications:

1. Meet at least one of the following requirements for being considered Highly Qualified:
   1. Two years of college experience
   2. A Two-year college degree
   3. Passed the Para-Pro Assessment (within the first year of employment)
   4. One year of over 1,000 hours of previous employment experience in a school or working with  children
   5. Passed annual school-level evaluations
   6. Completed 48 credit hours of college level classes
   7. Child Development Associate (CDA) Credentials
   8. Completed LEA required professional development modules/training
   9. Completed Other Requirements LEAs may request approval from IDOE
2. Operational knowledge of technology
3. Possess strong oral and written communication skills
4. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team 

Responsibilities & Duties:

• Assist special education students with assignments/projects, individually or in groups
• Provide individualized job coaching and workplace instruction to students with intellectual disabilities in school and community-based settings.
• Teach employability skills including communication, teamwork, time management, problem-solving, workplace safety, and professionalism.
• Assist students in developing job-specific skills through hands-on instruction and task analysis.
• Support students in increasing independence while gradually fading prompts and accommodations as appropriate.
• Monitor student progress and document vocational skill development toward Individualized Education Program (IEP) transition goals.
• Reinforce appropriate workplace behaviors, social skills, and self-advocacy techniques.
• Assist students with transportation training and community navigation when appropriate.
• Develop and maintain relationships with local employers, businesses, nonprofit organizations, and community agencies.
• Identify, establish, and coordinate work-based learning opportunities, internships, volunteer placements, and competitive employment.
• Conduct employer outreach to promote inclusive hiring practices and educate businesses on the benefits of employing individuals with disabilities.
• Serve as the liaison between the school, employers, students, and families to ensure successful work experiences.
• Collaborate with special education teachers, transition coordinators, counselors, therapists, and families to support students' transition plans.
• Assist students in exploring career interests and identifying strengths and employment goals.
• Support students in completing job applications, resumes, interview preparation, and workplace documentation.
• Maintain accurate documentation of student attendance, job coaching activities, employer contacts, and progress toward goals.
• Ensure compliance with district, state, and federal special education regulations.
• Coordinate transportation, scheduling, and logistics for community-based instruction and employment experiences.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding student records and employment information.
• Participate in professional development related to transition services, supported employment, and special education best practices.
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Maintain punctual and regular attendance
