Department:                     Safety, Security, & Environment 
Location:                           2 Broadway, New York, NY 10004
Position Title:                   Security Systems, Emerging Talent Intern
Hourly Rate:                    $19.00 (Undergraduate)
 
All internship positions are onsite and require regular, in-person attendance at the designated work location.
 
 
OVERVIEW OF DEPARTMENT:
The MTA Headquarters Office of Security provides oversight and guidance for security operations across the MTA. Ensuring the safety of our system, customers, and employees remains our top priority. In addition to our core security responsibilities, we offer strategic direction and oversight to the security departments within each operating agency. The Division of Security Operations focuses on the continued investment in and expansion of MTA security systems, including the integration of emerging technologies in the drone and camera programs.
 
The Intern will play a key role in assessing and documenting system design, implementation, and operational workflows with a focus on technology assessment. The department collaborates with stakeholders to enhance security operations through emerging technologies, camera initiatives and drone technologies. Intern will evaluate these initiatives, identify potential vulnerabilities and research emerging threats and mitigation strategies in surveillance and remote security system. 
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Conduct research on the latest technologies.
  • Summarize articles on industry news, latest technology, and insights.
  • Compile regular update and track key performance matrix.
  • Update the division documentation, inventory and other information such as budget activities.
  • Review design of systems and workflow process.
  • Develop infographic designs and assist with technical writing.
  • Review design of the CCTV system and workflow process with Security and IT.
  • Assist with reviewing business processes for video surveillance systems and document.
 
PROJECTS:
  • Develop flowcharts will serve as key resources for assessments.
  • Conduct research on the latest technologies within AI, UAS programs.  
  • Develop infographic designs and assist with technical writing.
  • Assist with reviewing business processes for video program. 
 
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is a must.
  • The candidate should possess organizational, analytical and communication skills. 
  • The candidate should be able to work well under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • The candidate should have a keen eye for detail and be able to work independently while being an active team player.
 
 
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
  • Matriculated in an undergraduate program in good standing with at least 2.5 GPA.
  • Major(s) Preferred: Security Management, Technology Management, Information Science, Data Science, Computer Science, Security Risk, emergency management, Information security, Cybersecurity, Homeland Security, or related field.
