Intermediate Cathodic Protection Engineer

Location: US-UT-North Salt Lake. Job ID: 2026-17821. Type: Regular Full-Time. Work Schedule: Remote.

Position Summary

Acuren is currently recruiting for an Intermediate CP Engineer at our Salt Lake City, UT location. If you are seeking a dynamic industrial environment with opportunities for individual growth and learning, this position is remote and does not require relocation.

Responsibilities
  • Apply knowledge of engineering principles and corrosion theory to execute projects or complete various aspects of projects
  • Perform and supervise over-the-line depth of cover, close interval CP, and coating surveys and conduct associated data evaluation and reporting
  • Identify and remediate AC and/or DC stray current electrical interference on pipelines
  • Produce cathodic protection engineering design deliverables
  • Organize and optimize survey information collected to prepare reporting charts and tables
  • Prepare field survey remedial recommendations and draft job reports for senior review
  • Prepare project scope and reference material for field crews; update project documents as required during the project lifecycle
  • Other work duties as assigned
Requirements

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Intermediate level Microsoft Excel/Visual Basic Application skills to support cathodic protection engineering data analysis and database management
  • Understanding of corrosion mechanisms, coatings, and mitigation methods
  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills
  • Proficient in CP modeling software and data acquisition systems
  • Ability to travel to field locations as needed

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree or its equivalent in Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • AMPP/NACE CP3 - Cathodic Protection Technologist is preferred, or the ability to pass the CP3 certification exam if not already obtained; CP2 Certification is required
  • 2+ years of experience in Cathodic Protection design and management
  • Valid driver's license

Working Conditions

Physical Job Requirements:

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly, and occasionally up to 75 pounds
  • Must be able to ascend and descend ladders, scaffolds, stairs and work in confined spaces and in proximity to loud equipment
  • Ability to stand, walk, and climb for extended periods
  • Ability to bend, kneel, and crouch as needed
  • Sufficient balance and mobility to navigate various surfaces and elevations
  • Sufficient hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for operating equipment and handling tools
  • Ability to reach overhead and at various body heights
  • Adequate vision (with or without correction) for detailed work
  • Adequate hearing (with or without aids) to detect audible equipment indicators or alarms
  • Ability to wear and operate required personal protective equipment (PPE)

Remote work allows for flexible scheduling, but travel may be required, and overtime may be necessary.
