Job description

WGHP-TV, serving the Piedmont-Triad region of North Carolina, is offering an unpaid internship for qualified college students. We're looking for creative, passionate, and competitive students eager to learn what it takes to produce compelling local news in one of the most dynamic markets in the state. This is a producing-focused internship and focuses heavily on writing and showcasing. If you are looking for an on-air/reporting/anchoring experience, this is not for you.

Responsibilities may include:

Assisting producers with writing and organizing newscasts

Collaborating with anchors, reporters, and photographers to shape story flow

Learning how to stack shows, manage breaking news, and update digital content

Observing newsroom meetings and contributing story ideas

Timing a TV news broadcast

The goal is to leave the internship being able to produce a 30-minute show

This internship will be in-person at our station in High Point. You must have reliable transportation and be able to commit to working 12-20 hours a week
