Job description

General Description

The Library Services Intern for the Osage Nation Child Care and Development Services Department will be for administrative and implementation support due to increased reading awareness efforts. The Intern will assist the Resource Specialist with the Bookmobile and the Summer Reading Program; and will assist with the Literacy Program. This position is grant-funded for a maximum total of 300 hours.

Qualifications

  • Must have High School Diploma or GED; preferred college hours toward Library Science or Early Childhood Education
  • Requires regular, daily/weekly travel within the assigned region
  • Must maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Requires good interpersonal communication and teamwork skills
  • Requires willingness and ability to learn new skills
  • Must be able to stand, stoop, bend and squat as job requires
  • Must be able to lift fifty (50) pounds
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check
  • Must be able to pass drug/alcohol testing

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Clerical and organizational assistance for the Bookmobile, Summer Reading, and Literacy Programs
  • Implementation support for the Summer Reading Program
  • Will assist with the intake requests for the Bookmobile
  • Promote reading efforts during summer months
  • Inventorying and labeling books and supplies
  • Assist in planning, promoting, and participating in literacy events
  • Prepping incentives for youth participants in programs
  • Reading to students in classrooms on the Bookmobile route
  • Must obtain/develop familiarity of Osage language and culture
  • Performs other duties assigned by the Director of Child Care
