As a Assistant Project Manager at DN, you will play a key role in helping plan, execute, and close out projects while gaining hands-on experience across all phases of project delivery. This is a pivotal role in advancing project success, requiring you to demonstrate adept organizational and multitasking skills, and efficiently overseeing a range of tasks throughout construction phases. With a focus on management and leadership, this role involves directing teams, facilitating collaboration, and reporting to the Project Manager, showcasing self-sufficiency in responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
  • Support the Project Manager in the successful execution of projects through effective communication, coordination, and attention to detail.
  • Manage services projects representing the company in meetings, conducting pre-job planning with superintendents, and ensuring daily project monitoring.
  • Manage new construction projects at the discretion of the Vice President of Construction.
  • Solicit and evaluate subcontractor pricing through pre/post bid strategies, subcontract coordination, and maintain subcontractor relationships.
  • Proficiently utilize AutoCAD for precise casting bed and crane layout, evaluate site conditions to recommend suitable equipment usage (cranes, pumps, loaders), conduct pre-project inspections, verify site layout details, and contribute to estimating throughout pre-bid and post-construction phase.
  • In conjunction with the Project Coordinator, manage project material submittals, approvals and lead times to ensure project timelines are met.
  • End-to-end concrete design and management, including specification review, quality control, operational support, and post-project analysis.
  • Manage subcontractors by ensuring performance aligns with project timelines and quality,while promoting effective communication and collaboration.
  • Manage the coordination of crane operations, overseeing scheduling, and communication
  • with the superintendent ensuring efficient project execution.
  • Travel to project sites for preconstruction meetings, quality control and safety inspections.
  • Manage costs involving initial budgeting, invoice evaluation, expense tracking, and monthlyproject billings.
  • Assist in Project closeout meetings, ensuring documentation review, final approvals, andseamless project handover to clients.
  • Support the project team to thoroughly execute detailed pre-job planning.
  • Manage co-ops/interns ensuring productive contribution and professional development.
Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of construction field engineer, project engineer, or assistant project manager experience in a heavy civil self-performing contractor, concrete preferred.
  • Background in sitework and utility work preferred.
  • Civil Engineering or Construction Management degree preferred.
  • Leadership experience demonstrated through ability to guide, motivate and develop others, and team-oriented background grounded in trust, accountability, and shared success.
