We are seeking an exceptional PhD-level Quantum Device Measurement Engineer to join our pioneering quantum computing team in Oregon. This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of fundamental quantum physics and practical semiconductor technology, characterizing silicon spin qubits at millikelvin temperatures using state-of-the-art dilution refrigerators. You'll play a crucial role in advancing Intel's silicon quantum dot technology while contributing to the development of scalable quantum systems that will revolutionize computing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and execute innovative quantum device measurement experiments to characterize silicon spin qubits

  • Perform hands-on electrical measurements using dilution refrigerators and cryogenic systems at millikelvin temperatures

  • Analyze quantum device performance data and develop predictive models for device optimization

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including device fabrication, software development, and systems integration

  • Develop efficient device testing and verification methodologies for quantum processors

  • Study quantum phenomena including coherence times, fidelity measurements, quantum gates, and error characterization

  • Propose and implement breakthrough ideas to accelerate Intel's quantum computing roadmap

  • Maintain partnerships with external research groups and academic institutions

Qualifications:

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Requirements listed would be obtained through a combination of industry relevant job experience, internship experiences and or schoolwork/classes/research.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Cryogenic Engineering, Quantum Information, Quantum Technologies, or Quantum Engineering.

  • 1 + years of experience in:

    • Electrical measurement of semiconductor qubit or quantum devices

    • One or more of the following: Tuning quantum dots to the few electron regime, measuring quantum dot threshold voltages, charge noise, noise spectroscopy, valley splitting; qubit readout, qubit spin state readout, measuring fidelity, qubit spin resonance, coherence time, relaxation, T1, T2, Rabi, Ramsey, CPMG, Hahn Echo, Pauli Spin Blockade, spin orbit, quantum gates, or Bell State, GHZ, tomography, or algorithms.

    • With dilution refrigerators or other cryogenic systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of experience with:

    • Cryogenic control of qubits

    • Electrical measurements of spin qubits, singlet-triplet qubits, exchange only qubits, semiconductor qubits, and/or quantum well heterostructures, preferably in silicon, Si/SiGe or Ge/SiGe.

    • Measuring devices at cryogenic temperatures including mK - to 4 K.

    • Programming, software, or driver development, preferably with Python.

    • 1st author publications in peer-reviewed journals

    • Quantum error correction or characterization protocols.
