Our people's division is growing, and we are looking for a Geotechnical Engineer II with our Fourmile Project Team. The successful candidate supports Support the Senior Project Geotechnical Engineer and Project Manager with the safe delivery of the feasibility study, critically assessing the technical, economic, and financial aspects of the proposed Fourmile project. Assist in the development of a world class underground asset from pre-feasibility through to operation. The successful candidate will be part of a team of mining engineers, operations personnel, and geologists and have the opportunity to learn from dedicated and professional Geotechnical Engineers.

Responsibilities:
  • Independently perform work which involves visual inspections of the underground mining activities to identify ground hazards, provide recommendations and monitor excavation performance.
  • Ensure adherence to the Ground Control standards and maintain the ground support QA/QC program, such as rockbolt pull-testing and strength testing of shotcrete and backfill.
  • Utilize rock mechanics properties to design ground support as needed.
  • Collect, analyze, and report on geotechnical monitoring data and maintain databases.
  • Assist with ground control safety training programs.
  • Provide support with geotechnical related projects, as necessary.
  • Perform geotechnical mapping underground and geotechnical core logging for specific drill programs.
  • The above duties and responsibilities are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all-inclusive

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Engineering or Science degree in Mining, Civil, Geological or Geotechnical Engineering or related Engineering discipline required
  • Previous underground Geotechnical Experience or underground internships required
  • Previous experience performing detailed geotechnical core logging preferred
  • Familiarization with mining software packages (preferably Deswik) preferred
  • Team leadership, problem solving, and excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills required
  • Flexibility in work hours for on-call and call-outs, as needed preferred
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, as well as independently required
  • Strong communication and team fostering skills required
