Overview

NeuroPsychiatric Hospitals is looking for a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) at our Kalamazoo, MI location. NPH is the national leader in providing medical and neurobehavioral care to patients in acute psychiatric distress.  You will be joining a team of rock star staff who provide exceptional, patient-centered care and understand our patients are always our number one priority! The Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing behavioral therapy services within the facility. This role will focus on program development, training, and collaboration with medical and clinical teams to ensure effective behavioral interventions.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) programs for patients, ensuring alignment with best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct functional assessments within 72 hours of patient admission and create individualized behavior intervention plans.
  • Train and support hospital staff, including nursing and activities teams, on the implementation of behavior intervention plans.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, therapists, and nursing staff, to integrate behavioral strategies into overall patient care.
  • Identify target behaviors for data collection and analyze trends to adjust treatment approaches as needed.
  • Provide ongoing education and consultation to hospital staff regarding ABA principles, crisis prevention, and intervention strategies.
  • Assist in the development of policies and procedures for behavioral services within the facility.
  • Establish documentation protocols and ensure compliance with all state, federal, and hospital regulations.
  • Participate in hospital committees related to behavioral health, patient care, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor patient progress and make necessary adjustments to behavioral interventions to optimize outcomes.
  • Ensure patient rights and confidentiality are maintained in compliance with hospital policies and HIPAA regulations.
Qualifications
  • Education: Master's degree in Behavior Analysis, Special Education, Psychology, or a related human services field required. Successful completion of internship and/or formal training in behavior analysis, instructional strategies, and patient intervention.
  • Certification: Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification required. CPR and CPI certification, obtained during orientation.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), preferably in a hospital or behavioral healthcare setting.
  • Experience developing and implementing ABA-based treatment programs.
  • Prior experience in program development preferred but not required.
  • Strong knowledge of Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) principles, functional assessment techniques, and behavior intervention strategies.

  • Ability to develop and deliver training programs to clinical and non-clinical staff.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong analytical skills to assess patient progress and adjust interventions accordingly.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

  • Knowledge of hospital policies, state and federal regulations, and accreditation standards related to behavioral health services.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and electronic health record (EHR) system.
