The Company:

The Position:

The Electrical Engineer is responsible for supporting Sungrow's Repair Center through engineering analysis, diagnostics, repair, testing, quality assurance, technical documentation, and continuous improvement activities. Working under the guidance of the Repair Center Lead and Supervisor, this position applies engineering principles to ensure repaired products meet Sungrow's quality, reliability, and performance standards.

Depending on the assigned functional area, the Electrical Engineer may specialize in repair engineering, quality engineering, spare parts engineering, battery systems, field technical support, or product-specific repair operations. The role collaborates closely with Engineering, Quality, Service Operations, Supply Chain, Logistics, and global R&D teams to improve repair capability, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering & Technical Support

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, test, and validate Sungrow products in accordance with engineering specifications and company standards. 
  • Perform electrical measurements, functional verification, engineering analysis, and technical evaluations of repaired equipment. 
  • Analyze technical issues, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions to improve product reliability. 
  • Prepare engineering reports, repair documentation, technical findings, and testing records. 
  • Support development and continuous improvement of repair procedures, testing methods, and engineering documentation. 
  • Maintain compliance with engineering standards, quality requirements, and EHS regulations. 

Quality & Continuous Improvement

  • Perform failure analysis (FA), root cause analysis (RCA), and corrective action verification. 
  • Analyze repair trends, quality data, and engineering metrics to identify improvement opportunities. 
  • Participate in process optimization, quality improvement, and new product introduction (NPI) activities. 
  • Support engineering validation and verification for new repair processes and products. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve repair quality, productivity, and customer satisfaction. 

Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Repair Center Leads, Supervisors, Quality, Service Operations, Logistics, Supply Chain, and R&D teams. 
  • Provide technical support to internal departments and field service personnel when required. 
  • Participate in technical meetings, engineering reviews, and knowledge-sharing activities. 
  • Mentor junior engineers and technicians as experience develops. 

Depending on Assigned Functional Area, Responsibilities May Include

Repair Engineering

  • Perform board-level diagnostics and component replacement. 
  • Conduct inverter commissioning, testing, and system validation. 
  • Support complex repair cases and engineering troubleshooting. 

Quality Control Engineering

  • Develop inspection procedures and quality standards. 
  • Conduct reliability analysis, product audits, and engineering verification. 
  • Monitor repair quality KPIs and corrective action effectiveness. 

Spare Parts Engineering

  • Analyze BOM structures and engineering drawings. 
  • Validate component substitutions and lifecycle management. 
  • Support spare parts planning and engineering documentation. 

Battery Engineering

  • Diagnose battery modules, BMS, PCS interfaces, and ESS components. 
  • Perform battery safety inspections and electrical testing. 
  • Support battery repair process development and technical investigations. 

Central/String Inverter Engineering

  • Troubleshoot utility-scale or string inverter systems. 
  • Support product-specific engineering improvements. 
  • Develop repair standards and technical documentation. 

Travel Engineering

  • Support field troubleshooting, commissioning, warranty service, and customer technical support. 
  • Collect field data to improve repair processes and engineering documentation. 
  • Provide onsite technical assistance and customer training as required. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Power Electronics, Renewable Energy Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 2+ years of engineering experience in power electronics, renewable energy, electrical systems, manufacturing, repair engineering, or technical service is preferred.
  • Recent graduates with strong academic performance and relevant internship or laboratory experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Knowledge of electrical circuits, power electronics, inverter technology, battery systems, and industrial electrical equipment.
  • Experience using engineering test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, insulation testers, power analyzers, or similar diagnostic tools.
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Familiarity with engineering problem-solving methodologies, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement principles.
  • Strong analytical thinking, communication, and technical documentation skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with ERP systems, engineering software, or data analysis tools is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications (Depending on Assigned Functional Area)

  • Experience with PV inverters, ESS, PCS, transformers, or power conversion equipment. 
  • Familiarity with quality management systems, reliability engineering, or statistical process control. 
  • Experience with inventory engineering, BOM management, or spare parts lifecycle planning. 
  • Knowledge of Python, MATLAB, Power BI, SQL, or other engineering data analysis tools is a plus. 
  • Willingness to travel domestically or internationally for field support assignments, where applicable.

Work Location and Status:

  • Contract-to-Hire in Houston TX

For candidates in the states of California, Colorado, New York and Washington, the anticipated annual salary for this role is between $80,000 - $100,000 per year. This range does not include any other compensation components or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for. The base salary offered is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, qualifications, experience, education, location, or other factors related to the role.
