PRIMARY PURPOSE: Support our mission by managing and contributing to comprehensive security programs and initiatives at Progressive Field. Develop and implement appropriate security measures to promote a forward-thinking approach while overseeing discreet security functions to uphold the safety of our teammates and fans within our ballpark.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

People & Vendor Management

  • Manage day-to-day of assigned seasonal gameday security team, comprising of approximately 40+ teammates. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, recruitment, hiring, scheduling, payroll management, and offering counseling, when necessary, in collaboration with Human Resources
  • Serve as the Security Manager on Duty on event days in accordance with peer rotation schedule
  • Supervise the security focus of the Ballpark Operations Intern Rotational Program, including developmental goal setting, training, scheduling, and providing feedback
  • Collaborate closely with fellow Security Operations managers to ensure cohesive planning and execution of all events and activities supporting the Cleveland Guardians
  • Collaborate with members of Baseball Operations to provide enhanced customer service & security protocols for Player Family and all Back of House (BOH) operations
  • Coordinate and manage vendors supporting events, such as EDC Teams, Ambulance Crews, and Event Medicine Teams, ensuring proper and appropriate services are in place and available

Technology

  • Serve as primary overseer and manager of the Incident Management System, offering guidance and support to peers in utilizing the current platform
  • Provide training, validate data, develop systems, and analyze output of Incident Management System as needed
  • Conduct a needs assessment and develop a management plan for internal security teams and partners within Ballpark Operations for Incident Management System
  • Serve as the Security Lead for various MLB technology initiatives, ensuring proper implementation and consistency, including the Guest Pass System, Credential Scanning, and other relevant technologies
  • Impact innovation and enhancement of security measures through research, development, testing and evaluation of programs
  • Contribute insights into the utilization and management of security systems including video surveillance, access control, and future systems by reviewing trend analysis of successes and failures

Incident Management, Documentation & Analytical Analysis

  • Provide guidelines for documenting and tracking of all incidents to ensure comprehensive metadata is captured and communicated to key stakeholders ensuring all surveillance needs, and expectations are considered
  • Utilize incident management platform to provide analytical driven decisions, thus providing an enhanced staff and experience
  • Leading initiatives to research and identify new technology platforms that have broad reaching benefits across departments.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive written policy and process documentation to ensure the consistent application of security and safety measures are applied within the designated area of responsibility. This includes Post Orders, Standard Operating Procedures, Field Access Plans, Post Season documents, and updates related to Safety Act compliance and modernization.
  • Create, implement, and execute definitive and secure plans regarding staff interaction with guests needing a higher standard of engagement such as Media, Specialty Fans, and Players and Player Family.

Event Operations, Permitting & External Coordination

  • Coordinate event-related transportation logistics, including team and staff bus parking.
  • Partner with Ticket Operations to align operational parking needs with ticketed parking products and ensure cohesive event flow.
  • Support risk management issues related to event operations, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, including labor, safety, and public health standards and ADA requirements.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local property owners, public agencies, and regional partners to secure approvals for fireworks, special effects, and other event-related activities.
  • Develop and implement emergency action plans for concerts and large-scale events, including floor clearing, partial evacuations, weather-related contingencies (e.g., lightning), and other operational disruptions. Ensure all procedures align with safety standards and permitting requirements

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree in criminal justice, Security Studies, Management or other relevant degree
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in security, operations management, or program management
  • At least 3 years of direct people management experience

JOB SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Demonstrated previous experience in documenting process, policy, or planning
  • Project management experience preferred
  • Ability to execute an analytic process, from requirements to dissemination.
  • Knowledge and/or experience with Incident Management Application preferred
  • Experience with the Microsoft Office suite of tools.
  • Ability to work weekends and events as dictated by Security Manager on-duty rotation schedule
