About the Commercial Internship within Supply, Trading & Shipping
The Commercial Internship is designed to provide hands-on experience and foundational knowledge of global energy markets within bp's ST&S business. Interns will gain exposure to the commercial and operational aspects of the energy value chain, helping to build an understanding of how commodities are sourced, transported, traded, and delivered to customers around the world.
Throughout the internship, participants will interact with a broad network of teams including Trading, Supply, Analytics, Finance & Risk, Credit, Legal, Shipping, and Operations. The program combines on-the-job learning, business exposure, and project work to develop commercial acumen, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment.
Areas of Exposure May Include:
  • Understanding global energy markets, market fundamentals, and commercial strategies
  • Supporting physical commodity movements and learning how products are transported through various modes
  • Exposure to trading, physical operations, pricing, finance, risk management, and analytics
  • Building an understanding of vessel chartering and supply chain logistics
  • Supporting origination and customer-focused commercial activities
  • Contributing to process improvements, technical enhancements, and operational efficiencies
  • Evaluating strategic development opportunities and market trends
  • Participating in ad hoc initiatives, business projects, and problem-solving activities

Minimum Requirements
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree (all majors considered)
  • Expected graduation date between December 2027 and May 2028
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Eligible to work in the United States without restrictions (bp will not sponsor visas for full-time or long-term employment)
  • Available to participate in a 12-week internship beginning May 17, 2027 or June 14, 2027
  • Successful completion of background and medical screenings will be required prior to the internship start date

We pay interns and co-ops a set non-negotiable monthly rate based on your degree major, degree level and year of graduation. For this role, monthly salaries range from $3,896- $6,375 per month.
