About Rippling
Rippling gives businesses one place to run HR, IT, and Finance. It brings together all of the workforce systems that are normally scattered across a company, like payroll, expenses, benefits, and computers. For the first time ever, you can manage and automate every part of the employee lifecycle in a single system.
Take onboarding, for example. With Rippling, you can hire a new employee anywhere in the world and set up their payroll, corporate card, computer, benefits, and even third-party apps like Slack and Microsoft 365-all within 90 seconds.
Based in San Francisco, CA, Rippling has raised $1.4B+ from the world's top investors-including Kleiner Perkins, Founders Fund, Sequoia, Greenoaks, and Bedrock-and was named one of America's best startup employers by Forbes.
We prioritize candidate safety. Please be aware that all official communication will only be sent from @Rippling.com addresses.
About the role
At Rippling, Engineering is at the heart of our business and culture. We believe in our early talent's potential, experience and aspirations. Our mission is to open the realm of possibilities and opportunities for students by fostering growth through mentorship and training, ownership through impactful and innovative projects, and, of course, fun through our diverse culture and work hard, play harder attitude. Rippling Interns gain the experience of full-time engineers with responsibilities, ownership, and opportunity. Interns will be assigned projects that not only have an impact on the business, but that are also scoped to fit within the time constraints of their internship so they can see the full impact of their work.
We provide our interns exciting and innovative projects to work on that allow them to see the fruition of their work. During your 13 weeks at Rippling, we will provide all of the tools needed to be successful. Your dedicated mentor and manager will provide support for your learning and development throughout your time with us. You will join your fellow interns in a variety of socials, talks with Rippling leaders, and more!
What you will do

  • Think critically and apply your knowledge to real world, complex problems
  • Actively participate in team meetings to scope, drive, and progress your projects
  • Learn about the business, our clients' needs, and the impact of your team and related projects
  • Attend Meet & Greets with various executives and teams to gain a holistic view of what it takes to run a company like Rippling
  • Foster relationships with your intern cohort and teams through both exclusive internship social events and company/office-wide events

What you will need
  • Previous internship/Co-op experience in software engineering utilizing Python
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science or in a related field graduating after the internship's completion
  • Excellent communication skills to work cross functionally and across departments
  • Solid programming skills with an emphasis on backend experience and knowledge
  • Ability to adapt and ask action-oriented questions to progress
  • Passion and drive to constantly learn and develop your engineering skills

Even if you don't meet all of the requirements listed here, we still encourage you to apply. Skills can be used in lots of different ways and your life and professional experience may be relevant beyond what our list of requirements has outlined.
About the team
Here at Rippling, we have many teams that span across all different types of work varying from product development to platform enhancement.
Our various product teams have a combination of both directly user-facing products as well as interfaces for other engineering teams. There are challenges for the team that range from building for usability to scaling for massive growth and a wide array of engineering requirements.
Rippling's platform engineering teams provide a layer of abstractions for every product team to build quickly and scale effortlessly. Providing a strong platform layer enables Rippling to build as a startup of startups. These teams are responsible for building the foundational software that powers the Rippling platform.
