Join us as we shape the future of AI and beyond.  Together, we advance your career.

THE ROLE:

As a Hardware Functional Safety Engineer, part of AMD Functional Safety team, you will be directly impacting the certification of key AMD products, targeting critical AMD growth markets such as digital cockpit and autonomous driving. Your task will be to provide technical leadership for the product line safety function and for its customers. You will perform this in close cooperation with different functional owners within AMD.

THE PERSON:

You are a practical, standardssavvy Functional Safety Engineer who thrives at the intersection of silicon, firmware, and platform. You combine strong systems thinking with handson safety analysis, and you’re comfortable guiding crossfunctional teams to achieve credible, auditready compliance for complex SoCs used in automotive and industrial markets.

You thrive in collaborative environments, moving fluidly between design, verification, architecture, and program teams. You communicate clearly, challenge assumptions respectfully, and drive alignment on safety decisions. You enjoy digging into the root cause of issues, closing gaps with rigor, and producing hardware safety artifacts that stand up to internal reviews and external audits.

KEY RESPONSIBLITIES:

  • Refining the Safety Concept
  • Performing the High level safety analysis (FMEA/FMEDA/FTA DFA, FFI) using the Safety Analysis tools at architectural/concept level
  • Defining HW and SW safety requirements
  • Performing the verification planning (including safety verification plan to verify safety metrics, pre-silicon and post silicon)
  • Defining and maintaining the Safety Manual.
  • Be responsible for assessing and determining product line compliance to the ISO/IEC metrics.
  • Direct re-use of safety cases and re-use of designs through advice, metrics reporting, and timely escalation in order to achieve the required standards of leadership in safety and cost.
  • Recognize when and how to address critical system safety topics with customers and represent the business in forums.
  • Participate in evaluations of proposed technical solutions (in decided architecture) with the purpose to judge the possibility of developing and calibrating a SW solution
  • Participate as a representative of the AMD FuSa team within system teams (for example when performing Hazard Analysis, FMEA, FTA, etc)

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience with SOC design and microprocessor architecture
  • Experience with the ISO26262 standard is a must
  • Experience with software development is a plus
  • Extensive knowledge of system safety and monitoring methods
