As an Associate Level Software Engineer, you will join a collaborative technology team responsible for building and enhancing applications that power Schwab's trading platforms. Working alongside experienced engineers, product owners, and business partners, you will contribute to the design, development, testing, implementation, and support of modern software solutions that help deliver reliable and scalable experiences for clients.
This role provides an opportunity to apply foundational software engineering skills while developing expertise across the full application lifecycle. You will help solve complex business and technical challenges, contribute to product and solution design discussions, and work within Agile teams to deliver high-quality software. Through hands-on experience, mentorship, and exposure to emerging technologies, you will strengthen your ability to analyze problems, evaluate solutions, and make meaningful contributions to products that support critical business outcomes.
Success in this role comes from combining technical curiosity with strong collaboration skills. You will partner with technical and non-technical stakeholders to understand requirements, translate ideas into effective solutions, and continuously improve engineering practices. You will also have opportunities to leverage AI-enabled tools, including Microsoft Copilot, to improve efficiency, accelerate learning, enhance documentation, and support software development workflows while continuing to grow your technical capabilities in a fast-paced environment.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience through academic projects, internships, coursework, or other hands-on learning in software development
  • Foundational knowledge of object-oriented programming principles, software design principles, and relational database concepts
  • Experience developing applications using .NET or Java
  • Experience writing SQL queries and working with relational databases
  • Understanding of application development concepts, debugging techniques, and software testing practices
  • Familiarity with web technologies such as JavaScript, TypeScript, Angular, or React
  • Knowledge of RESTful APIs and web services
  • Understanding of secure software development practices
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills
