Job Title: Senior .Net Software Developer
Location: United States (100% Remote)
Position Type: Contract

Job Summary

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is seeking an experienced Senior Software Developer to support the Office of Academic Affiliations Data Management Center (DMC). This senior-level, task-based role focuses on application modernization, cloud migration, and enhancement of enterprise applications using Microsoft .NET and Azure technologies. The selected candidate will provide technical leadership while ensuring secure, scalable, and compliant solutions within the VA environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, enhance, and maintain enterprise applications using ASP.NET Core, C#, .NET Framework 4.8, JavaScript, CSS, and Kendo UI.
  • Develop and maintain cloud solutions using Microsoft Azure, including:
    • Azure Functions
    • Azure App Services
    • Azure API Management
    • Azure Blob Storage
    • Azure Monitor
    • Azure Databricks
    • Azure Synapse
  • Lead modernization initiatives, including:
    • WebForms to ASP.NET Core migration
    • SSRS to Power BI migration
  • Design and maintain SQL Server databases with advanced T-SQL.
  • Maintain metadata, data dictionaries, and documentation.
  • Ensure secure coding practices and support ATO vulnerability remediation.
  • Perform code reviews and provide technical guidance to junior developers.
  • Ensure compliance with Section 508, ADA, and WCAG 2.0 accessibility standards.
  • Maintain ATO documentation, SSP updates, POA&M tracking, and security artifacts.
  • Quickly onboard to government-assigned development tasks with minimal ramp-up time.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (mandatory; no substitutions).
  • 8+ years of software development experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience with:
    • ASP.NET Core
    • C#
    • .NET Framework
    • SQL Server & T-SQL
    • Power BI
    • Kendo UI
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Azure services, including:
    • Azure Databricks
    • Azure Synapse
    • Azure Functions
    • Azure App Services
    • API Management
    • Azure Blob Storage
    • Azure Monitor
  • Proven experience leading software development projects and providing technical leadership.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work in a task-based engagement model.
  • Must have resided continuously in the United States for the past 36 months.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Microsoft Azure certifications (Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure Developer Associate, etc.).
  • Experience with Federal ATO/RMF processes.
  • Experience supporting VA or other Federal Government projects.
  • Previous experience in task-order or on-call staffing environments.
  • Active or previous Federal Security Clearance/Public Trust.
