Internship Asic Verification Engineer information

What does an internship ASIC verification engineer do?

An Internship ASIC Verification Engineer assists in verifying the functionality and performance of ASIC (Application-Specific Integrated Circuit) designs before they are manufactured. This role typically involves creating and running testbenches, writing verification code (often in SystemVerilog or similar languages), and collaborating with design engineers to identify and resolve issues. Interns learn industry-standard verification methodologies, such as UVM, and gain hands-on experience with simulation tools and debugging processes. The goal is to ensure the ASIC design meets specifications and is free of critical errors before fabrication.

What types of projects and responsibilities can an internship ASIC verification engineer expect to work on during their internship?

As an Internship ASIC Verification Engineer, you will typically assist in developing verification environments, writing testbenches, and executing test cases to validate the functionality of ASIC designs. You may work with simulation tools, debug issues alongside experienced engineers, and contribute to documentation and coverage analysis. Interns are often included in team meetings and code reviews, providing hands-on exposure to industry-standard verification methodologies and collaborative workflows. This experience helps build a strong foundation for future roles in hardware design and verification.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an internship ASIC verification engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Internship ASIC Verification Engineer, you need a solid background in digital design fundamentals, hardware description languages (like Verilog or VHDL), and coursework in computer engineering or a related field. Familiarity with simulation tools (such as ModelSim or Synopsys VCS), scripting languages (like Python or Perl), and possibly exposure to UVM methodology are typically required. Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and effective teamwork and communication skills help interns adapt and contribute quickly. These competencies ensure accurate verification processes, minimize design flaws, and support successful project outcomes in collaborative engineering environments.

What is the difference between Internship Asic Verification Engineer vs Asic Verification Engineer?

Job description

Opportunity
PeopleTec is currently seeking a Junior MBSE Engineer (Digital Backbone / Aviation Systems) to support our Huntsville, AL location.
We are supporting the integration, verification, and test of next-generation aviation and mission systems utilizing deterministic Ethernet-based Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN), Digital Backbone (DBB), and Data Distribution System (DDS) architectures within Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL), Software-in-the-Loop (SWIL), and digital engineering environments.
We are seeking an early-career Systems Engineer with a passion for Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), digital engineering, and aviation mission systems. This position provides an opportunity to work alongside systems, software, network, cybersecurity, and avionics engineers supporting the design, modeling, integration, and validation of complex aviation architectures utilizing SysML and modern MBSE methodologies.
The ideal candidate will have experience developing system models, analyzing requirements, and supporting architecture development using tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler and MagicDraw. Candidates should be interested in supporting MOSA-aligned aviation systems and digital backbone modernization initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain SysML-based system models supporting aviation mission systems, digital backbone architectures, and system integration activities.
  • Support requirements analysis, requirements decomposition, traceability, verification, and validation activities within MBSE environments.
  • Assist with development of system architectures, operational views, interface definitions, and design artifacts.
  • Support modeling and analysis of TSN, DBB, DDS, and other aviation networking and mission system technologies.
  • Develop Component Design Models (CDMs), System Design Models (SDMs), and architecture artifacts supporting MOSA-aligned system development.
  • Participate in system design reviews, architecture reviews, integration activities, and technical interchange meetings.
  • Collaborate with software, network, cybersecurity, avionics, and test engineering teams to ensure model fidelity and requirements traceability.
  • Support digital engineering initiatives including digital thread, digital twin, and model-based verification approaches.
  • Produce technical documentation, engineering artifacts, presentations, and reports supporting customer and internal engineering activities.
  • Support demonstrations, customer engagements, and system integration events.

Qualifications
Required Skills/Experience:
  • 2-5 years of experience in Systems Engineering, MBSE, Digital Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical disciplines through professional work, internships, research, or academic projects.
  • Familiarity with SysML and MBSE concepts including requirements modeling, behavior modeling, structural modeling, and traceability.
  • Experience using MBSE tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler, MagicDraw, or similar platforms.
  • Understanding of systems engineering principles and the systems development lifecycle.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Interest in aviation systems, mission systems integration, digital engineering, or model-based development approaches.
  • Familiarity with Git, configuration management, or collaborative engineering environments is desired.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 10%.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • An active DoD Secret clearance is required to perform this work. Candidates are required to have an active Secret clearance upon hire, and the ability to maintain this level of clearance during their employment.

Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related STEM discipline.
