Job description

  • GENERAL SUMMARY
    • The Art Therapist is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating art therapy services. Utilizes art therapy to restore, maintain, or improve cognitive, physical, emotional, spiritual and social function of patients and their families. Reports to the Manager of Child Life and Patient Experience.
  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Assesses patient needs and develops treatment plan including measurable goals and objectives.
    • Implements art therapy interventions and techniques to maintain or improve physical, emotions, and social health of patients.
    • Evaluates patient's progress and effectiveness toward established goals.
    • Documents interventions in the patient's electronic medical record.
    • Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team in planning art therapy activities in accordance with patients' needs.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
    • Board Certified (ATR-BC) or ATR eligible (must pursue ATR and be under current Art Therapy Supervision).
  • MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
    • Master's Degree in Art Therapy or related field, as required for eligibility for certification by the American Art Therapy Association.
    • Minimum 1-2 years of experience working as a ATR-BC or completion of 600 hour art therapy internship in healthcare environment preferred.
  • WORKING CONDITIONS
    • Normal patient care environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like. Frequent exposure to communicable disease and moderately adverse working condition due to performance of certain patient care activities.
